Do you have to use Feedburner? I’m in favour of non-monopoly services, or preferably something that doesn’t use any outside service at all. Thought there might be some home-made widgets that don’t involve big name services?

Is it normal to load itself on your database? Can I turn it off?

I investigated with host and it seems persmissions on a temp folder had been changed somehow. The guy fixed the permissions and that fixed the problem, it wasn’t actually an sql error.

But thanks for the tip-off, be hard to tell for me whether it’s a server or WP error.

It does seem odd that it was working on Tuesday and munged on Friday – have not touched the site between times.

Believe me, there is no version at the bottom of my admin screen – just a black bar with ‘Get 2.9.1’ at the right hand end!

Those who love their wordpress will always know or look out for new versions. But it’s damned irritating for those who only just installed a recent version but don’t know which long telephone number it is… ??

OK, well I took the plunge and replaced the theme’s archive.php with your amended default archive.php.

Nice! I got my four full stories and then just the title and date for the next one.

I think the older ones (5 onwards) need a different font and size though, they look a bit daft with their h3 font and nothing else – I could do with all the title links being in a 12pt verdana or something.

So thanks, it worked technically perfect..but how do I style the two sides of the equation?

Right, I had a look at the audio plugins…and they all look too complicated!

What I need is something hidden really but which just enables mp3 or mp4 or wav….which just plays it when a link is clicked. I don’t need pop up players and the like.

I think what I need is something very simple…a music enabler. No fancy ‘players’ required. Isn’t there something to just make music play without fuss and bother?
