kartiks16 and Quoc Le, thanks very much for the replies. I tried kartiks16’s suggestion of deactivating plug-ins, and that worked. Before deactivating plug-ins, I could not see thumbnails of previously uploaded images under Add Media and could not upload new images. Once I deactivated all plug-ins, the issue was resolved.

Quoc Le, I chose not to rollback the version of WordPress since the developer of that tool recommended testing on a developer site, which I do not have. I did not want to risk the tool disrupting my web site. Still, it is a good suggestion and one I considered last night. I just couldn’t find a way to do it.

    Thanks again!

Jimmy_xs and finnj, thank you for the replies.

Jimmy, I am not having issues with the WordPress editor (4.2.1) on my laptop. I can readily edit my site and then access it on the laptop. The problem I am having is that I am getting connection errors on the WordPress app on my iPad and iPhone and then I cannot access my web site from any device on the same wi-fi network for about a half-hour. It is strange.

finnj, I just opened the WordPress app on my iPad and got the same connection errors as before. Then I could not access my web site via Safari or Google Chrome on my iPad. I also could not access my web site via my laptop.

Suddenly my home page is O.K. I didn’t change anything, as I didn’t know what to change. I did send an e-mail message to a friend who helped set up the site years ago, and he may have done something, but I haven’t heard a word from him today.

In any case, it’s fine now.

Looking at Appearance in WordPress, I see this:

“A redesign of the Mistylook-101 template by Sadish Bala.”

A friend helped me set up the site several years ago.

    This isn’t working. Anybody?

Thanks, esmi. I looked at the page.php file and did not see “Index of” there. Also, it seems that I can’t edit these files. The following line appears on WordPress beneath these files:

“You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.”

A friend of mine, who is far more knowledgable with this stuff than I, got the site started for me. I have asked him about this and will see what he has to say.

    Thanks again.
