In reply to: Lesson: Web Page Design and Accessibility‘Title’ indeed pops up on links, but if you want a tooltip on images in Firefox ‘alt’ won’t work, you have to use ‘title’.

In reply to: Blog-Themes.comI call cross-posting the exact same comments in multiple threads ‘petty’. YMMV.

In reply to: Themes without TemplatesAgreed. We have this ridiculous situation where rather than just announcing their themes on their own site and the forum, developers are now supposed to submit them directly to Macmanx, and Shadow, and Rust Indy. Oh, and they should sign up for Codex and add it there too, just in case Macmanx misses it. Seriously, who’s going to bother doing all that?
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Themes without TemplatesShadow’s list contains several themes that for whatever reason have been left off Macmanx’s Official Codex List. I imagine the designers would be pretty p***ed off by any suggestion that they should not be downloaded by anyone, just because the developers happen not to approve of them.

In reply to: Kubrick as default… why?Suggestions for making it better, for those incapable of making the leap of logic: take the h2s out of any lists generated by wp functions. Hierarchies within lists should be inside list tags, not headings.
To answer the question: Kubrick is the default because it looks nice. At least, it looked nice before appearing on 90% of WordPress installs, but familiarity breeds contempt.

In reply to: Changing the the_meta syntaxRather than hack the core files, I would use a plugin. I use myMooMus which I got from wp-plugins.net, but there are more listed here that might be helpful.
If none of those will do what you have in mind, function the_meta is in
wp-includes/template-functions-post.php

In reply to: MT import in 1.5I had a similar problem. 1.5 seems to be much more strict about the format of the MT export than 1.2. My solution was to install 1.2 and import the posts into that before upgrading to 1.5.

In reply to: [1.5] Integrating WordPress into existing PHP sitehave you tried setting WP_USE_THEMES to ‘false’?

In reply to: Message to theme developersI would second that, especially the importance of marking divs, because it’s very hard to keep track of divs that open and close in different files. The only thing I would add, is that female designers should comment their code too, not just the men ??

In reply to: Themes quit working since upgrading to StrayhornOK, I see people only take any notice of answers when they come from a developer. Obviously my username lacks the proper authority ?? Oh well, nevermind.

In reply to: how to remove the dashboard? (or go directly to other page)Thank you for this. I am already subscribed to WordPress Planet via bloglines so the Dashboard feeds are totally unnecessary for me.

In reply to: Themes quit working since upgrading to StrayhornYou have to switch on theming for Strayhorn by editing index.php. Check you have the current version of index.php and that use_themes is set to TRUE.

In reply to: How to remove ?? from ?£Rather than type html entities all the time, t’s probably easier to switch your encoding from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1, which handles pound signs no problem.
