Things seem to be back to normal – here is what I did: went into customization, tried the new 4 columns possibility, then removed it, then wrote 3 in the number of posts displayed (that had been changed to the custom 6) and saved…
It took five minutes to go back to normal, the time to post the problem above…
So everything works well again ??

I have the same problem, and with the new fourteen theme, it also “eats” on the menu… this is a shame, I really loved the plugin…
Maybe we shall get an upgrade?

I am having exactly the same problem. The only thing I installed recently is SI Captcha. Could it be linked to a new effort by the host to struggle against spams (in my case Dreamhost)?

I have tried what alchymyth suggested – and it did not work, probably because I did not do it properly. I use categories as “dynamic pages” to display posts that are (will be) regularly published (I am creating a kind of serialized book, with associated scientific background).
Initially I had created pages and tried to assign posts to them but entered into a host of problems, notably regarding comments. With this solution, I could assign the featured image to each page, according to topic.
After having read many threads on the forum and observed how a few premium sites were doing (Branford-Magazine notably), I replaced my pages by categories and created the menu out of them, it works perfectly well except that I lose the ability to use the featured image: I assigned the featured image to all the posts of the category and hoped it would also be displayed on the archive-category “page” but it does not. Can you help? (I am definitely not a developer, but did managed to create the child-theme, and change the ephemera font size, thus if I am explained very clearly and told what to do exactly, hopefully I should manage).

The earlier bit of coding is complicated because I have no idea where the images are stored and how to upload them (is it through the ftp?), also I would like to keep a user friendly ability to display or not featured images according to categories and posts, to change images easily, eventually to abandon an image and revert to usual main setting.

Of course, if there is no other way, then I’ll resort to assigning image to category once and for all. But then regarding earlier coding:
shall I still keep the ‘else’ etc after the code given?
should there be a ‘;’ after the code pasted?
Is ‘name-of-first-cat’ corresponding to the category with ID=1… thus for category ID=10 should I write ‘name-of-tenth-cat’?

I also thought about going back to the page solution and doing some manual cut and paste after publication of the post, but then I’ll be in trouble with the comments (assuming there are some) and it will be inelegant and time consuming.
