In reply to: Site font size reduced by mistakeThanks for all your answers and, YES ClaytonJames, (Ctrl+0) worked!
Did I change the view size on Firefox for that particular site, as the other one looks OK on Firefox and both are OK on Explorer and on my laptop? Now that I know how to fix it, do let me know how I managed to do it in the first place!
Gratefully yours, Hazel

In reply to: Unable to paste rich text in WP 3.9Also in response to programmin’s suggestion, please compare https://s464925280.onlinehome.fr/?page_id=608 (before updating to WordPress 3.9) with https://s464925280.onlinehome.fr/?page_id=3018 (after updating).
Both texts were transferred directly from Word 2007 rich text documents and appear the same on Firefox 29.0.1 and Internet Explorer 11. It makes no difference if the paste as text button is on or off.
The solution that works for a non html savvy user like me is to copy a rich text already posted, paste it on a new page and overwrite it: https://s464925280.onlinehome.fr/?page_id=2935. Takes an age, but it works, with a few tweaks…

In reply to: Unable to paste rich text in WP 3.9Copying and pasting from MS Word worked fine until I updated to WP 3.9. Is there any way I can go back to the previous version? (I installed TinyMCE to try and solve the problem, but it doesn’t change the font, despite its claim.)
I’m inclined to say to the WP team “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”! Can we get an answer from them on this thread?
Worked perfectly, thanks!

Hi,
I took your advice, Tobias, and updated WordPress to version 3.8. and TablePress to version 1.3. when I changed the domain name of my website from the sub domain to https://www.josefkolbe.com. Trouble is, all the images and photos on the 80 odd tables I created with TablePress have disappeared! However, they are still in my Media Library and they still appear in the contents of each table. I have a back-up with UpDraftPlus but am hoping I don’t have to use it…
Regards,
HazelOtto von Guericke!
Hi Tobias,
I don’t know how to open .php files, so I’m sending you an e-mail c/o Otto. Watch out for a message from Bargiel.
Thanks,
HazelHi Tobias,
Thanks for your quick reply, as always.
I’m obviously being over ambitious here. I’ve taken your advice and removed the video from the table format and will post it independently once I have authorisation from the orchestra. This is why I didn’t post it directly on YouTube which would, of course, be the simplest solution.
I’ve redone the tables and they work perfectly despite the fact that I’m still getting the AJAX message.
Thanks and all the best for Christmas and the New Year!
HazelEverything’s working beautifully!
Hi WPyogi and Tobias,
You’re quite right. What worked for my 1st website doesn’t work for my 2nd. 1&1 now stipulates that I download all software and plugins in Free Mode rather than in Safe Mode, which I have used up till now.
Thanks and regards,
HazelHi Tobias,
I’m redoing the layout of each page of the website dedicated to my grandfather https://www.josefkolbe.com, inserting the photos I want aligned in a table. Take a look at the first few tabs and you’ll see it’s shaping up nicely.
I take your point about displaying on a small phone or tablet, but it’s very unlikely that the audience I’m hoping to reach uses anything other than a desk-top. (Basically, I’m writing a book which I’m posting on the web.)
I consider my part of this thread solved. Thanks very much for all your help!
Regards,
HazelThanks for your prompt answer, Tobias,
The problem with simply placing the images on the page is that they line up in a different way according to what type of screen you’re using. (I use an ancient almost square model, as I hate the current wide screens.) I’m a bit of an ancient model myself but, before I retired, I was able to relook my department’s intranet site quite easily using tables for alignment and spacing. Do you know if WordPress offers this possibility?
Regards,
HazelHallo Tobias,
I was pleased to find TablePress, as I thought it would be the solution to my problem of image/text layout, compatible with all sizes of screen. I’m not looking for anything sophisicated, mostly 4 to 5 images strung across the page in a single row (see top row of photos at bottom of page on https://s409188927.onlinehome.fr/?page_id=34 ). But I can’t seem to reduce the padding. I’ve tried adding the following to my Plugin Options:
.tablepress {
padding: 0px;
}.tablepress-id-2 {
padding: 0px;
}
(“px” disappears and the 0 is uncrossed when I save either option.)Neither of the above works for me. The padding remains stubbornly thick and the last picture is off the screen.
Do put me out of my misery!
Vielen Dank!
