  • I tried what others suggested, i.e. deactivate all the plug-ins.

Nothing has changed; editing, together with a bunch of other functions, still does not work.

And as others mentioned: the empty editing window shows the html code if highlighted, even in Visual mode. But it cannot be changed.

I have the exact same problem, it seems. But mine started about an hour BEFORE I updated to 3.3. It occurred suddenly while editing, and I was hoping the upgrade makes the problem go away. No such luck. It afeects old and new posts, i.e. all posts get an empty editing window with none of the editing features working. I cannot even type readable text, i.e. the cursor moves but nothing shows. Picture upload does not respond, etc.

However, when using view post, the web site looks ok. Posts just cannot be changed, new posts cannot be created.

It seems that some other functions are disabled too, not just post editing.

I am usually running IE9 on Win 7-64, but it does not work on Firefox 8 or Chrome either.

    Very strange.

I just “uploaded” whole folders and one gallery now shows only 2 thumbnails out of over 20, the other folder no thumbnail at all. If I try to create the thumbnail individually I get an error message.

I am using IE9 and the newest versions of NextGEN and WordPress. I have not used the feauture in a while but I have had this problem before. I cannot remember how I resolved the issue in the past, but I think it had to to with the number of pictures that were imported at once.

In another folder it only worked with 33 or less.

I just tested it again: 50 files/pictures is the maximum nextgen can handle when trying to create thumbnails.

I have the same problem, but only with some folders. It appears to be size related, i.e. if the folder contains too many files (pictures) nextgen hangs during thumbnail creation.

I have been able to create the thumbnails one by one usung “bulk action” on just a single file. Again thumbnail creation will hang, but closing the pop up window and saving the gallery file makes the thumbnail appear. After doing that cumbersome process for most of the files inside the gallery folder I can choose now more than one file and the thumbnail creation starts to work as intended.

This faulty thumbnail creation behavior might have to do with an error message I get when I try to customize a thumbnail using “edit thumb”:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ngg_get_ttffont() (previously declared in /home/hapzfl/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/settings.php:762) in /home/hapzfl/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/settings.php on line 790

I hope there is a solution for this problem.
I am using wordpress 3.1.2 and NextGEN Gallery 1.7.4

Unfortunately, I am my own server (Synology DS410) and I am sure I am missing proper settings somewhere, i.e. in WordPress, in the DS410 settings, or both.
I have also a “test server” installed on my PC under Vista64 and there the updates of both WordPress and plug-ins work. Neither work on my DS410.

I resolved the problems I had with the largest blog: I re-exported the file. That xml file turned out to be much smaller, translated and imported well.

The blog file with pictures left out had that problem already on the blogger site.

The link definitely helped; thanks ??

However, the procedure only worked for some, not for all.

The smallest blog (147kB – xml; 45kB – wxr) worked perfectly.

The next one (166kB – xml; 80kB – wxr) left out some pictures w/o error message.

The largest one (3334kB – xml) fails already during translation to wxr with:
SyntaxError: junk after document element: line 1115, column 23998

So that is a total failure.

Unfortunately, I do not understand your alternative

open a wordpress.com blog and import your blogger blog to that

Isn’t that what I have been trying to do with the wxr files?
