looks like no difference with the former changes you suggested. It looks good on mobile, but to much white for me on the sides on the computer. Looks like the theme width of the overall text area is maximized already, as the menu and header text is the same width. If I increase the width of the window on my browser only the header-picture goes wider, text area stays same everywhere and more white comes left and right. Can I increase the overall width of the text area (or perhaps the theme width on the front page and pages for computer only?

still one more question: how can I reduce the whitespace on the left of the text-block?

I put the padding left and right at 0, now the frontpage text-space is equal to the normal pages.
Can it harm to put the paddings at 0?

It is a “must” that you make a twentyseventeen child-theme before you make the changes.

Thanx again, that works on the desktop version, still a little bit smaller than the other pages though.
On my Iphone it doesn’t do it unfortunately, still way to much whitespace on both sides on the homepage.

I keep wondering what the idea is behind giving the static homepage a totally different layout.

Great! that works.
But why is WP twentyseventeen coded that the sidebar doesn’t come on the frontpage?
And it seems that the text area is smaller on the front-page. Any way to fix that? Or should I start a new topic?

Sorry for the last remark about mobile display, somehow it is working fine now.
Stays the question of the sidebar on the homepage. Why can I get the sidebar to show up everywhere except there?

Solved!!!
For some reason the update caused the blog-page to display the category news, which was named the same as the blog-page. Strange, as this problem never occurred before the update.
Thanx for the advise, it kept me searching ??

now the posts are still white. Will replacing page with post work?

Funny, that works.
I had put an # before it (#page, that’s how it worked in twenty eleven)) instead of .page and then only the area around it got color.
Now I use the both ??
