Ok, now it’s all clear for me.
Apparently I did some things or experimenting in the past that caused it, but I have no memory of that.

That’s the point, I never set it up that way (or at least I think I didn’t :-). I have 2 other websites where I never ran into this problem. Is there no way or setting in which worpress does that automatic?

Why would I want a page with a parent-child relationship? To get a structure in the URL or something like that? For me it makes the url way too long and complicated

It’s not resolved, I didn’t postit, but it doesn’t work decent, so as Haz statde.

As far as I know it changes the colour of the text in the page and the menu,it is in a dark colour, so not so easy to see. It also changes the colour of the social media buttons, and of the lines in the sidebar or footer, depending on where you put your widgets.

I cannot check it at this time, because I added custom colours :-), so perhaps it is different

thanx for all the input, but if I put the width at 75, 80 or 90% the page-title of the blog post page keeps sticking out to the left

I noticed today that the blog-page as the only page has the title left, and that shifts the whole text out of the browser screen on a desktop computer.

I am truly no expert either, just an experienced amateur ??
All theses codes are css, which you can try out and remove very easily in the customizer > extra css.
Just copy paste them, and remove or modify them. You can see the result immediately on the right, and if you don’t like the result just click on the X in the left top, then it saves nothing, and you can start anew by clicking “customizer”.
If you like it, then click save.
You can always change or remove it afterwards.

If you do a lot of modifications you can also put them in (or transfer them to) the css file in the child theme.

That blanked my website somehow :-).
I decided to put the widgets in the footer. Now the text is in the middle, but I am still struggling to get it wider. Any suggestions on that?

I found out the changes in the page.php code does make the text on the frontpage shift left. But removing it also removes the sidebar on all the pages, and that was the purpose in the first place

I removed the front-page.php from the child theme.

Some time ago I have put code in page.php and functions.php (child theme) to get a sidebar on normal pages.

Dear swayam.tejwani. At last I decided to remove the sidebar from the front-page, as it interferes with the theme options on the front page. But now the text my frontpage keeps behaving like ther IS a sidebar. Look for yourself at https://beenhakkers.nl
Any thought on this one?
