Thank you.
Would that also work to copy templates from twenty-seventeen to twenty-twentyfour?
In twenty-seventeen I use a child themeForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Four] Child theme usageDo you need a child theme in twenty twenty-four?
Before it was used to make changes to the template, but you can do that within wordpress itself now, I thought?- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by hansbeen.
It’s a bit confusing, because the editor can edit many “basic templates/layouts”. Blog home, single posts, pages, Index. Which one to chose to edit the whole site.
Index template days it would be used if no specific template is defined. How and where can you define that?It was just that I lost some basic things switching from twenty-three to twenty-four: header and menu’s. Just found the navigation-menu and header back. I guess it is just trial and error to get it properly working if webdesign is not your job and the theme is not so long existing.
Does using a child theme makes sense now a days? Or not any more, since you can now edit the theme?- This reply was modified 1 year, 4 months ago by hansbeen.
The menu eg. It is just a lot of work if you are not a full-time web designer. Each theme has different ways to implement customizations it seems to me. I hoped there would be a way to take the overall design of the old theme to the new theme, but that works only for the content it seems. Even going from twenty-three to twenty-four the whole menu disappears, which is rather annoying.
Seems I have to build the whole design from scratch again in 24 coming from 23?you mean in twenty twenty-three the customizer is still there, only not accessible from the dashboard.? That would be very strange….
But I do like the blocks. I also started old-school, but now blocks are perfect for met. Only not sure about twenty twenty-three though….

In reply to: Reusable Blocks – Disappearing HTML code on 4th/5th useYes, already some months suddenly having problems with the reusable blocks, after using them for more then a year. I don’t know what triggers it, but the reusable blocks are unusable for some more users.
Sometimes the message “block cannot be displayed inside itself” pops up, sometimes the reusable block dissapears over the entire site, sometimes it just does not show. Very strange.
Already made a few posts about it, but no solution- This reply was modified 3 years, 9 months ago by hansbeen.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Reusable block says: the block cannot be displayed inside itselfUPDATE:
I made “some” progress (but still not working). If I edit a reusable block in the page where all the reusable blocks are listed (you can get there by the options of a reusable block, or yourwebsite/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_block ). It seems OK, but as soon as I place that reusable block in a page and save that page, the content of the reusable block in the list becomes blank. So posting the reusable block blanks it content.
Anyone on how to progress. You see the problem? ??
I cannot understand that no-one is bothering about this ??
Or is there some specific reason we get this error?Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Reusable block says: the block cannot be displayed inside itselfIt keeps getting stranger and stranger…
The reusable blocks I made and inserted yesterday are are not visible anymore today in the webpage. In the edeting area they are visable as empty horizontally longstreched blocks with a + in them. And sometimes with a notification “the block cannot be displayed inside itself”.
Any idea what may be causing this?- This reply was modified 3 years, 11 months ago by hansbeen.

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Reusable block says: the block cannot be displayed inside itselfI reinstalled Worpress that seems to have helped in some degree.
Dashboard > Updates > “Re-Install now”
Supposed to keep all of your content, but make a backup to be sure.Seems all the reusable block that were inserted in the pages have changed into normal blocks, so I have to replace them all by the original reusable blocks.
It seems that all original reusable block in the editor have survived, luckily.
I will give you an update after finishing tracking and replacing some 100 reusable blocks across 100+ pages ??
Very glad it seems to function again ??- This reply was modified 3 years, 12 months ago by hansbeen.
