    Long time ago an Intern from Syracuse University convinced me to use your Theme 'Color Mag', that we have been using for the website for my non-profit newspaper "CNY Latino" (located at https://cnylatinonewspaper.com/)... it has been working great for many, many years, until a couple of weeks ago, when we have been told that when you click on any "articles" link (title or images, or anywhere), the following message appears (see between the ++++ lines):

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    404: Page not found

    This error is generated when there was no web page with the name you specified at the web site.

    Troubleshooting suggestions:
    Ensure the page you are linking to exists in the correct folder.
    Check your file name for case sensitivity. Index.htm is not the same as index.htm!
    Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    I am very ignorant in WordPress and general computer or internet stuff, but I had a conversation with my website hosting service technical people (Network Solutions), and they think that the automatic PHP Upgrade, probably affected some functions in your 'Color Mag' settings; therefore, they - NWS - suggested me to contact you, for assistance.

    Please, I NEED HELP WITH THIS...!!!

    I can either be contacted at [email protected] or my cell phone at (315) 415-8593 Again, please, keep in mind I am not a computer savvy, and also that we - CNY Latino - do not have much money.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    When that sort of thing happens to me it is normally a permalink issue.

    If you open the WordPress admin ‘Dashboard’ then select ‘Settings’ then ‘Permalinks’.

    Check the settings are correct and are not ‘Plain’ – anything else will do!

    Then save the settings and that might do it….

    Hi @cnylatino,

    404 not found is an HTTP status code error that indicates the specific page you are trying to visit is non-existent.

    Usually, it occurs when the domain points to an incorrect DNS address, files or folders have misconfigured permissions, or the system runs a corrupt .htaccess file.

    When the 404 error appears, it is critical to solve the issue immediately. Do one of these methods to fix it:

    1. Use Hosting Troubleshooter By consulting with the hosting provider
    2. Ensure the domain points to the web host
    3. Fix file permissions
    4. Disable the broken .htaccess file
    5. Restore the website backup file

    Or you can check this documentation instruction kindly: https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/how-to-fix-error-404

    Regards!

    Hi aces… I tried the ‘Permalinks’ suggestion and already it was NOT selected on “plan”; so I left it alone… Thanks anyways…

    AMRIT: I will try your suggestion later on today, and I will let you now if it worked.

    Somehow the issue got resolved…!!! I think that by just “stopping” at the WordPress admin ‘Dashboard’ then select ‘Settings’ then ‘Permalinks’ (like you suggested), and then get out , resolved this issue.

    Thank you very much ACES…!!! Muchas Gracias!!!
