  • I am having the same issues. I have a thousand or so posts assigned to 30 or so categories. I’ve tested the tag converter, but it then makes all those posts uncategorized. I NEED to still have them assigned to “a” category. There’s no way to edit the uncategorized category…

    Any ideas someone…? :-/

Okay, just adding my help/recent experience to this post. One of our sites we use WP to manage is Basketball New Zealand. Now, we run a lot of our sites using WP, and to be honest, I’ve been a huge WP fan since… forever. However, with a site like BBNZ, it worries me no-end how massive this site is now, and how much traffic it gets, and the server load etc etc etc…

In particular, the wp-options table continually needs massaging and some TLC. Case-in-point this morning, I arrive at work and find the entire website is down. I start investigating, optimize everything I can find, search the forums (and of course find this thread) and start figuring out the best plan off attack.

I’ve been worried about the size of the wp-options table for a while, and it reached nauseating heights this morning when it’s size had peaked to 31MB!!

@mihaim, deleting all re-write rules is definitely the solution that saved us from early-morning cardiac arrest.

Each row was about 1.5mb and we had 18 exact copies of this row in the database! Deleting them fixed it. What worries me is, why is this happening??

There also seems to be a large amount of rows called ‘template’ with the value being ‘default’ (btw, we’ve re-named our theme to default, as WP was randomly dropping our theme named BBNZ and reverting back to the default theme without asking our permission, *sigh*, yet another forum search to find a frustrating solution…). I am unsure why this is and any feedback would be cool.

@dodge107, perhaps these ARE bugs worth logging…?

    Happy backing-up everyone. ??

I am using 2.2 as well and seem to have a similar problem as littleoracle.

Has anyone managed to get this working on 2.2?

    Hey all,

I’m really sorry if this question has been answered somewhere else, but does wp-print work with pages as well as posts? Or just posts?

    Cheers,
    Hamish

    Hey roblgs

I forgot to reply to this post and say thanks for your help. I’ve used this plugin on a few sites and it works like a dream. Our most ambitious being – https://www.soulpurpose.co.nz

    Thanks heaps

Yes good point – but I still maintain that I have a good enough hold on my site architecture that this will not be a problem. ??

Hi there. Did you ever manage to get your base category set to “/”? I too can safely manage my root folders and would love to get this re-write working like you mention above.

    Cheers!

Hi there. Thanks for this plugin. It has helped me considerably in reducing my headaches today. I do have a small question, however. I am attempting to setup a site using WP as a functioning CMS for a small website we are developing. This is purely a test run for us as we are keen to see if in fact WP can work how we want it to. So here’s my question:

We have a horizontal primary nav set up within a <div id=prim-nav> </div> tag. That is fine and everything displays correctly. However, I a want to know if a secondary nav (children of the parent items) can be displayed elsewhere on the page, ie. in a seperate div tag (perhaps vertical on RH column), hence I need two customised ‘wswwpx’ tags for displaying the different parts of the navigation.

Does this make sense? Can anyone help me? Cheers.
