In reply to: [Timely All-in-One Events Calendar] Hide Author and Event Post DateThe style definition you posted is in both the parent and child theme stylesheets. I checked again to make sure….
Here’s an example page. You can see the post-time and author under the event title.
Besides being ugly (RED??), it’s confusing for the reader, as it might be mistaken for the event time itself on first glance.

In reply to: [SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam] Still getting registration SPAmI am getting the same problem, i.e., bogus “users” registering. I have to delete a dozen to fifteen a week, so this plugin is apparently not slowing them down. What can we do?

In reply to: [Easy Forms for Mailchimp] Relationship between "Groups" and "Segments"Sorry…. I should have been more precise in my terminology.
My “users” are those composing and sending campaigns. My “subscribers” are those filling-out the webform and assigning themselves to a Group.

In reply to: [Easy Forms for Mailchimp] Relationship between "Groups" and "Segments"Thank you.
This is helpful for ME but possibly too complicated for my users, who pretty-much need a “1, 2, 3” pushbutton process with as few steps and choices as possible.

In reply to: [Easy Forms for Mailchimp] Relationship between "Groups" and "Segments"Yes, we want our subscribers to self-select themselves into the arbitrary “regions” we have defined as “Seattle/Western Washington” and “West of the Rockies.” So far, so good.
But poring over the MailChimp docs, I don’t see an easy way to select the subscribers’ Group as a target for a campaign. The available option is Segments, not Groups.
I spoze I could set a merge operator in the campaign template, but our users — those who will be creating the campaigns — aren’t particularly technically sophisticated, and the MailChimp UI is just not as “discoverable” or intuitive as maybe it could be. So Groups are a great idea, but not really very helpful in this case… Unless I’m missing something (which is quite possible).
If there were some intelligence in the back end that would automagically assign a subscriber to one of our Segments based on the Group they choose — OR someone can ‘splain me how to use the campaign UI do a targeted mailing based on Groups — I’d be very happy and we can close this topic. Otherwise, the plugin creates as many problems as it solves. Help me here…..
OK: SOMEthing is keeping track of the names of pages. When a page is deleted, it goes into the Trash, but a new page created under the same name always has “-2” (or “-3”) appended to the URL, and cannot be edited out. This Is Stupid. I want to be able to re-use names of deleted pages.
OK, will try that. AFTER backing up…
One other question: how do I really empty the Trash. If I create and then delete a Page, then create another Page with the same name, the URL makes it “[pagename]-2” This is very ugly, and the slug cannot be edited to remove the “-2”.
I’m reading the stuff at the Codex link.
The site does not appear to behave as described at codex. Maybe I got off on the wrong foot to start and I can’t get there from here.
There are these toplevel menus on the site: HOME, ARTICLES AND MUSING, SACRED CALLIGRAPHY, TEST, and ABOUT HAFIZULLAH
These were created by creating Pages. Some of them have submenus created by defining pages as a Child of another Page.
When I go to Appearance>MENUS the Pages selection in MENUS and select all but Test to Add to Menu, it still appears on the site as a toplevel menu.
How do I include a screenshot?
Look, I’m an old x-86 Assemply Language programmer… this object-oriented stuff is ‘way hard for me. I am quite literate in HTML and CSS. The logic of WP is just plain weird… I think its creators were drinking too much Jolt Cola.
(I’m using the latest Chrome.)
No matter how I create a page, it appears at the toplevel menus. I created a page Test with no Parent, went into Appearance, selected all BUT Test, and updated. Test still shows. It has no Parent, its order is 0, and it appears as fifth in the toplevel menu array.
The only plugin I have activated is Akismet.
wtf?
