It was resolved but is back again. That solutions seems to have been a band aid and not a real fix. Any ideas?

Notice the ? characters appearing randomly. This is a really big deal and leaves a very bad impression to visitors. I really need to get this fixed. I will provide any additional details anyone needs to help me solve this.

I know we are supposed to start new threads but I have the exact same issue. I had used W3 cache in the past but started having that internal server error issue and nothing worked to resolve it. I switched to Super Cache several months ago.

I figured I would give W3 a chance again after four months in the hopes an update had solved the issue by now. It hasn’t.

Last night I also discovered independently that one workaround is to enable debugging for Page cache. I figured that out before I found this thread.

Like the person above my post I am on Godaddy and have PHP 5.4 installed. Enabling debugging for Page cache is the only workaround I have found but I don’t think that is a good solution since debugging slows things down according to the warning.

I hope the developer will see this thread and realize there is a problem that needs to be addressed. On another note, Opcode APC is an option that can be selected in settings. Is there any advantage to choosing that on Godaddy over Disk or Disk enhanced?

I installed W3 last night and ran Gtmetrix, Pingdom Tools, and Google Page speed and all three are giving me the identical scores I last ran on WP Super Cache. That is strange as you would expect some change for the better or worse, but something different.

Besides downgrading to PHP 5.3 is there any fix for this 500 internal server error?

I fixed it.This was a really old tip but it worked.

In the wp-config file:

I changed

define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);

to

// define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8′);

All the ? characters have disappeared. Hope that change to my wp-config file won’t cause any problems.

I would prefer to have them inside my header image if possible, but at least they are there now.

My search box moved also moved outside the header image. But at least I have an idea of what to do.

I found what you were talking about in the stylesheet page. I will copy and paste that section and include the logo, search widgets as well.

What changes can I make here to make them appear?

Thanks for your help. I am a complete doofus when it comes to these things but I can follow instructions well. How would I correct that? My theme has a section for Custom CSS and someone else suggested that CSS I pasted above. Can you correct the code so I can copy and paste?

I can either paste into my theme’s settings Custom CSS field or if you need me to go into the theme editor and change something there as well I can do that to. Just not sure what I need to change and where I need to change it. Thanks

I am the OP and I moved on the very next day. I found reliable solutions well-supported and that are updated after I started this thread three months ago.

Steve expressed my thoughts as well just a few minutes ago. Few people know about Github or forks or how to use them so that really isn’t an option for most people.

People on WordPress click on plugins then “add new” and they see the official plugin from Facebook and trust that simply because it is the official Facebook plugin. The same applies to updates.

This buggy plugin is causing a lot of problems unnecessarily. They need to remove it, update it, or hand it over to someone who will keep it updated. No reason to keep something that buggy around.

I want to add tables for some counties. The update button is greyed out so it can’t be used. Even the “Preview Changes” button is greyed out. Is it possible this is a proofreading problem? Even the save draft button is missing. Could it be because the proofreader can’t process the words in the table?

Specifically I am trying to simply copy and paste the data from the is page. I only highlighted the data inside the box for the county.

Thanks for your help. The theme developer helped me solve the missing text with this custom CSS. I will paste here just in case someone else has a similar problem so they can try.

But I am still worried why I was getting disconnected from the WordPress Backend and the page went blank. I hope that is not a completely other issue. Many of my widgets are now gone but I can add them back again.

Okay, the 2015 theme showed the text of the article so it does appear to be a theme based problem. Thanks. At least now I have a clue.

I cleared the cache several times yesterday and again today. Right now all plugins are deactivated again. Is it possible the theme got corrupted or changed? I will also post to the theme developer website for their suggestions.

A Non-issue? The issue is the plugin is broken. It has a lot of bugs that need to be fixed. I just clicked on Github and the last post in that forum was from 10 months ago. We as WordPress users have a situation where Facebook abandoned their plugin and punted it to Github. The problem with that is it appears now no one is working on the bugs. It is the WordPress community and ultimately the visitors to out websites that are the ones being punished.

The other issue is that WordPress is not some niche product. It is running millions of websites all over internet. Facebook certainly have the right to abandon their plugin and we have the right to point that out. No one here can force them to update their plugin. I really do not understand why they would choose to it but I suppose they have their reasons. They never want users to leave Facebook.com if it at possible and maybe this is just their way to try and keep people there. Who knows.

OK sending an email now. I accidentally replied to an email that was just a notification from WordPress that you had replied.

I started a new thread here and just saw yours. I can confirm that there is a conflict with Embedly and TinyMCE. My problem is when I used Embedly to embed an article or video the Save Draft button completely disappeared. Also the publish button was completely unresponsive. If I disabled TinyMCE I could publish. But then if I wanted to edit and update same problem again as the button became unresponsive.

You have a good plugin but you need to fix this incompatibility with TinyMCE. I have even tried a few alternatives but didn’t like any besides TinyMCE.

I just discovered it looks like there is a conflict with Tiny MCE editor. When I disabled Tiny MCE the problems went away. But I find Tiny MCE very useful so do not want to uninstall. Are you aware of this conflict and are working on a update?
