Just checked on another Windows phone, and the menu closes as soon as you try to scroll.

I.e. You are getting two captions for the price of one…!

It gets even more weird.
I disabled both plugins (and the limit login attempts one, the only plugins that were activated) and now the images act more like the demo site… except… Now when you touch (caption appears) and scroll the screen, on release the caption in the image above becomes visible.
?!?

Hmmm, it sort of works – but not as well as on the demo site.

If I tap deliberately on the image once or twice (as if I am trying to click a link) then the caption appears.

But on the demo site, the captions appear whenever I touch the screen on the image (e.g. if scrolling up and down). By this I mean that on the demo site you see the caption almost ‘by accident’ as you move up and down the page. On my site you have to choose and deliberately tap and image to see what the caption is.

Does that make sense?

If you try them side-by-side you will see the difference. It may be a subtle difference, but as my site has an image-driven front end, it needs to be blatantly obvious that the images serve a purpose.

Thanks so much for giving your answer, I’ve been looking to find a way to control the number of posts IS loads, rather than the global setting (posts per page).

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I include this extra arguments so as to load 6 posts, for example? (i.e. where do I put them?)

Thanks for the pointer.
The file had been renamed to xmlrpc.bak in my install.
Possibly because of a WordPress update or a Jetpack update?
Renaming to xmlrpc.php resolved the issue.
