Update: I’ve sussed the notification email thing – so just waiting on a fix for the PayPal part. Thanks, Dave
Hi,
We had to remove the PayPal fields as it just wasn’t allowing people to submit. So we changed to just a standard form and despite using an SMTP plugin (WP Mail SMTP) and configuring that, now it won’t even send notification emails when people submit. So really we are pulling our hair out here as I’m really not sure what’s happening.
Any news on when the plugin will be fixed would be great as I feat we’re going to have to pick another as it doesn’t seem to let us do even the basics at the moment unfortunately. Thanks, Dave
Hi,
I implemented the workaround and now we are not getting any entries at all (and hence losing business). One of the customers who tried to submit said:
I’ve tried a few times to submit one poem via the form on the website. However, every time it hasn’t worked as it doesn’t believe I’ve uploaded my file. The files have either been (.docx) or (.pdf) types. It seems to acknowledge the file I have selected, but when I try to pay, I get told “Something’s not quite right” – and it highlights this part as not being complete.
Here is the visual capture:
The file (For Four November) is there, but the submission won’t go through.?
This is quite troubling as our business relies on this form for paid submissions so I’m going to have to swiftly find an alternative. Please let me know if there is a proper fix as soon as poss. Many thanks in advance,
Dave
Hi Adam,
Thanks for getting back to me.
The same happens with PDFs and other docs, though we haven’t tried images (as the form is being used for people to submit poems). I’ve tested the workaround suggested above and that allows us to access the files, so I’ll stick with that for now (I’m not technically astute so I don’t even know if the site is powered by Apache, and I don’t want to mess anything up as the competition we’re running is live and we don’t want to miss any entries).
Many thanks,Dave
Hi Luis,
Many thanks for getting back to me and for the suggested workaround. I’ve instigated that so fingers crossed that will work.
I wondered if changing the File Upload Storage option to Custom might be another way around it? But didn’t want to compromise security.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates with any fixes but let me know if you think of anything else.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Dave

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Change Title Of Events PageHi Erica,
Nice one, many thanks for that. The Knowledgebase article link didn’t work but I’ve added the extension and that’s done the trick!

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Changing breadcrumb textHi Abz,
Thanks, it’s the link that appears on the main listings bit – as in the screenshot here: https://paste.pics/43acc0d7f80354bb6146bd8ebeee10c6 (hope that works)
Many thanks,

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Changing breadcrumb textHi,
I have managed to change the colour (or color) of the link text in the excerpt, but I can’t figure out how to make it change colour/go underlined when the mouse hovers over it. Sorry if this is very basic, but any help here would be amazing, thanks!Dave

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Changing breadcrumb textOh actually, I’ve found out about the manual excerpts so ignore that, but please could you let me know how to make the URL in the manual excerpt underlined/change colour when hovered over?
Thank you

In reply to: [The Events Calendar] Changing Text Of Find Events ButtonHi Truman,
Thanks for getting back to me. Aha, I’d looked at that but was confused with it saying %s so thought it must not be that.
1.
So I’ve set up the file in my child theme:
public_html/wp-content/themes/themify-ultra-child/tribe/events/v2/components/events-bar/search/submit.php
and amended the text and I think that works now, so many thanks (https://newwriters.org.uk/writing-competitions-list/).2.
The bulleted text, I just wanted to display the details of the competitions (deadline, prize etc) in bullet points when displaying the listings on https://newwriters.org.uk/writing-competitions-list/ (rather than the paragraph-style text that it is at the moment) if that makes sense? (so ideally similar formatting to the individual event (comp) post: https://newwriters.org.uk/competition/creative-writing-ink/All the best,

In reply to: How to change URL to get rid of /blog/Duckboy and others, just to let you know, I bottled it and paid someone $50 to put the blog in the root directory and now no longer have the dreaded /blog/ in our URLs. Only took a couple of hours for them to do it.
