  • Are you using the Jetpack plugin? I discovered today that the embedded Vimeo and YouTube players on our site had suddenly stopped being displayed, and I was able to fix the problem by deactivating Jetpack.

Jetpack disables both Vimeo Short Code and Artiss YouTube Embed, under WordPress 3.2.1. This clash was only apparent after I updated WordPress to the latest version.

If this doesn’t help you, it’s still worth deactivating all your plugins one by one to check for clashes.

A lot of people have reported video problems with WordPress 3.2.1. I think that a fix will probably come out in the next version.

Have you checked to see whether it clashes with any other plugins? In particular, are you using Jetpack? I had to deactivate Jetpack today because it disables both Vimeo Short Code and another video plugin I’m using, Artiss YouTube Embed. With Jetpack disabled, this plugin works for me.

I didn’t check the page source code before I fixed it, but the empty paragraph markup you describe would have produced exactly what I was seeing.
