09:05 AM PST: Intermittent error upgrading WordPress to version 4.3 and/or updating WordPress plugins

Some customers have reported receiving errors when upgrading WordPress to version 4.3 or updating WordPress plugins. We are investigating this issue and will provide updates as they become available.

(09/10/15) We are continuing to work toward resolving this issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing. We will provide further updates as they are available.

Just installed a new blog and immediately tried to update it. Getting error message:
Download failed.: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /usr/local/share/certs/ca-root-nss.crt CApath: none

    Any ideas?

Thanks for the help guys. I’ll have to block out a couple of hours to devote to the site. I’m guessing that it’s not a theme problem cause the other blog uses the same theme. I’ve been wrong before and I’m getting damned good at it.

Kmessinger, TX, I found the javascript in the source but don’t know where to find it in the file manager. I’ll keep looking.

juggledad, Tx, I can see the wordpress folder on my file manager page but most files load blank. I found the read me file and find I am using version 3.9.2. The update link in the read me file also loads blank.

    Address is flatustheelder.com/wordpress

I have neglected it for quite a while and am unable to update it. It is hosted by yahoo and the wordpress file is visible. I’m using Firefox on a mac OS 10.10.2 The file shows last modified date Aug 25/14. Thanks for the help.

My other blog address is https://greyhoundoptions.org/blog/
    That one is working fine.

    So anyway,
My web host is Yahoo and they don’t allow .htaccess editing. I noticed in SecurityMetrics’s suggested resolution they used the word “storage” which happens to be the name of a folder where we archive our old newsletters for download. I took a chance and password protected that folder/index and re-ran the scan. That did the trick (I guess) cause the scan passed and I’m back in their good graces.
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate a human being on the other side of a question who can/will actually help.
May the sun shine brightly on your soul,
    Cliff

Thanks for responding. This is the first answer I’ve gotten from several resources that is even remotely comprehensible.

    Problem solved:

When I uploaded photos to my posts I did not notice that they were linked to the attachment_id template. Visitors that clicked on the photos were taken there instead of the permalink. I went back and changed the urls on all photos to link to the wp_content/uploads folder thereby eliminating the error.
Now visitors can comment only by clicking the comment link.
I found the solution by searching: image anchor wp_content/uploads on the forum.

    Hope this helps other users.

    More on comment malfunction.

When I click on an image on the blog that works properly I go to: https://greyhoundoptions.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/ where I see a date and an uploaded image.

When I click on an image on the blog that does not work properly I go to: https://flatustheelder.com/wordpress/?attachment_id=722 which is a distorted template where the comments appear. If I click on the comment link all is well.

Obviously the former is better than the latter. I’m about to locate the attachment template and delete it but before I do, has anyone else had experience with this?

Thanks for responding so quickly. I guess I bungled my first question and for that I apologize. My first problem is that comments do not appear where they are supposed to appear, on the permalink. In other words, my post appears on my front page with a comment link at the bottom. A visitor clicks the comment link and goes to the full post where he then writes a comment and submits same. I approve the comment on the dashboard and the result is an approved comment on the dashboard but nothing appears on the page with the post.
I don’t want or care for comments to appear on my front page but I do want them to appear on the same page as the post.
If I can fix the first question the second will become mute. Again thanks for your help and please forgive my clumsiness.

After searching around the dashboard list of comments I found the one I was looking for published to a page URL: https://flatustheelder.com/wordpress/?attachment_id=722&cpage=1#comment-1872
The layout of this page does not match my CSS stylesheet. All the images have a white border around them which screws up the layout. Permalink page # is 721. Did WP create a new page and force the images on to it?

I’m personally hooked on a three column format. Left column for blog roll. center wide column for content/blog. Right column for ads and such. Gave up on Kubric and finally settled on F2. A simple template that utilizes side columns that can be used or not used would make me a happy old man.

    Ok,
Installation is a success. Followed the codex notes and also upgraded to 2.8. Next step is themes.

    Thanks for the help.
This gives me some hope and some steps to work on. Since I am a Mac user and use FireFox and Safari, I’m a little concerned about the IE limitaton. I will let you know how this shakes out.

    TX,

    Cliff
