Looks like the first css code you gave me did work, my browsers weren’t showing the updated page. The second css code worked as well, so both areas of text are hidden. Thanks for all your help on this, and we will contact you if we have any other questions.

Sorry to be a pain, but when I added the CSS you gave me to the “style.css” file, nothing happened… the gray type still shows. Maybe there’s a delay in caching so it won’t show up yet.

The only thing I thought I could change in the file “single-nooz_release.php” was line #6, “$cmb_single_style = get_post_meta( $post->ID, ‘cmb_single_style’, true);” and removing the “$post->ID,”. I’m guessing that was wrong because it didn’t do anything.

In the files “template_single.php” and “template_single_multi.php” I see the code:

I looked at the other topic and the WP codex page. I’m not afraid of editing code, but I’m not a PHP or CSS programmer, so this WP developer stuff flies right over my head.

Can we at least remove or hide the black date copy below the gray icon type? In my example link above, the copy is “Dallas, TX—March 22, 2017”.

Looks like it’s been fixed… thanks so much for your time and looking into it. We have been doing some revisions to our navigation/menus, so it’s possible something there caused a page break (unintentionally breaking the press release/coverage pages). Regarding plugins, it does seem like updating them and keeping them from fighting with each other is a full time job. We’ll let you know if we have any issues or questions.

It is required that you set a URL for press releases and coverage (Go to: Nooz > Settings > Press Releases and/or Press Coverage).

An empty value would not work.

The follow are good examples:
a) news
b) news/press-releases

We do have those fields filled in – “news/press-releases” for Press Releases, and “news/press-coverage” for Press Coverage. In fact I think they were already filled in.

is “/wp/” a dedicated installation of wordpress?

Yes. ‘WP’ is where the WP site is installed. It’s probably not a big deal to most people, but isn’t showing the main website directory in the URL a security concern? I’m not a security expert, of course.

What other info/settings do you need?

Still trying the options you recommended… still no real improvement overall. If I look at the list of items that Google has listed under “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript…”, it shows:

I’m assuming these entries are code pointing to sources outside of our domain. How can I possibly ‘remove’ these?

The .JS for SEOGears is probably from code that a (former) SEO company has put on a few of our pages… that I can find and delete. I’m at a loss for the Google fonts CSS. Those are baked into the theme and I don’t think I can really do much there without possibly breaking the entire theme itself.

Thanks for getting back to me quickly. I had the plugin “WP Performance Score Booster” active, so I deactivated it. I’m using “W3 Total Cache” as my main caching plugin. I went into its settings and turned off the minify option.

The code in the page source seems to have changed, and my PageSpeed number for “mobile” seems to have improved slightly (for desktop it’s excellent, so I’m not concerning myself with that one). However, both mobile and desktop still show the dreaded “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript…”

How would you proceed from here? Thanks in advance.
