never just copy the full content of functions.php of the parent theme into functions.php of the child theme – this will very likely lead to a fatal error.
only ever add pluggable functions to a new functions.php in the child theme, or any functions to overwrite stuff from the parent theme.

Resolved! I deleted the post that was anomalous, repopulated the fields and updated. Perhaps it was related to some images that I had included earlier?

I haven’t checked validation.

Another strange thing is that <header class="entry-header> is only attached to the First Post, subsequent, more recent ones do not have this tag; they are given the <article> tag with postX id and class (so, post71, post72). On these, I can’t drill into the entry header at all.

And in fact, tweeking those parameters caused the other post summaries to get pushed too far up into the title.

Could this all be connected to the <more> shortcode I’m using from the WP post editor?

Thanks, I was wondering how to do this and it works for me.

It is working for me. My advise would be to visit to the theme developer’s website and watch the theme’s “how-to” video. At about 7’45” he shows how to customise the theme in order to insert a gallery on a portfolio page instead of a larger version of the thumbnail. (BTW, cropping thumbnails is a matter of editing the image, and once you have dragged out a crop box, THEN hit the crop icon and SAVE. Not very intuitive, but there you have it. Note the buttons to the right, showing which versions of your images will be affected.)

NOTE: in the case of Portfolio Press, don’t follow step 6 and create a new page. Instead, insert the gallery shortcode (or use the tool icon) in the existing Portfolio “page” that you created with the Portfolio Post Type plugin (assuming that you are using Portfolio Press’s portfolio features).

I am bumping this because the same thing is happening to me as well. And I’m loosing all the icons for linking, editing, etc..

If you could give an summary of what that code is doing then I’d be grateful. I’m trying to grok it, but I’m not there yet with PHP.

Also, this doesn’t seem to affect the “Home” page that comes with Twenty Eleven. I presume there is another PHP file one needs to create to override this? Any ideas?
