Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: "Translation ready" themesesmi, theres only one .pot file and its located in the languages folder of the theme. It contains all the words in the admin and as far as I can see the words used in the theme design as well. I translated the words I wanted translated, then I uploaded the nb_NO.po and nb_NO.mo files (for Norwegian) back to the language folder – but nothing had changed. I logged out and logged on, still no change.
I didnt make any changes to the wp-config.php because I dont wanna change the admin interface language, only the theme language like mentioned above.

In reply to: "Translation ready" themesHi and thanks for the link, however I’m afraid I didn’t get a single thing of the content on that page. I’m not a developer. I heard rumors of this being kind of complicated, I guess they were right. I have however managed to locate the theme pot file from the server, and I have installed Poedit. So now Im trying to figure out how this work.
The thing that bothers me is that the words I get in Poedit after I actually dragged the pot file directly onto the Poedit icon (the pot file had a Powerpoint icon!?) is words from the interface language. Im not interested in changing the interface admin language, only the words that are in the themes design. I’m perfectly fine with the english admin, but I need every word that occurs in the design to be in another language. Like …search, next, back, send email etc.

In reply to: All image files invisableI appreciate that info esmi, my host seems to be almost vaccinated against faults of their own. They even emphasized that solving this issue should really be out of their support responsibility, but they did it to be nice.
What host should I choose for WP sites? I’m in Norway normally so I have used a domestic host to avoid time differences, but something tells me I should be looking to change. I guess its not a big and tedious thing to move sites?

In reply to: All image files invisableesmi, thats a good thing to know cause my host said this was a case of WP changing and/or updating files on the version I installed. They also said that WP does this from time to time and default solution are sometimes changed. It seems strange to me that WP changes files that hides img files. Hm, I really dont know what to think.
I have posted another email to my host to see if they are willing to come to the cross and admit some fault on their behalf. But they seem to point at the installation files that WP makes available for download.

In reply to: All image files invisableChristine,
My installation is all new, that is I bought a new license for a theme that I have running on another domain. So I went trough the process of installing another account at WP etc. So all the files are new, nothing is from another database.
The thing here is that I finally contacted my host to see if it was something wrong with my installation and after a lot of debate they finally switched some names: changing all wordpress folder permission to 755 ( from the root ) and all files to 644 for this. That worked, all the images suddenly became visible, but I am still struggling with a weird looking theme admin.
This episode scared me cause all I did was installing wp and a theme I already knew as a stable theme, then all of a sudden I have these WP file issues to deal with. Seems to me that WP has a rather messy program code if this can happen just between two identical installations? It’s impossible to avoid if its all corrupted WP codes.
Hi Ben,
My host is in Norway, one of the biggest, but I cant really understand why this should be a host issue. I’m experiencing this on any WAN and LAN I have tried. I just enter an url with a catalogue path and Im in. It doesnt log me out when I shut down the browser change ISPs or anything. No need to log in at all. I did however manage to get a prompt for login when I rebooted one time.
If what you are explaining is normal with some hosts u should perhaps make a step by step explanation on how to make your plug-in work and/or how to pick a host that supports your plug-in? Although I doubt anyone would switch hosts just because the plug in doesn’t work.
No, I don’t have any caching plugins installed. Another thing with this plugin is that you never have to log in again, that doesnt seem very good.
And why do I as an administrator need to login? I have checked “allow administrators”. I think I need to delete this plugin, if I do will everything go back to normal or does it leave traces of stuff I need to look for and delete`?

In reply to: Extremely slow WP. Back end work impossibleAfter chatting with my local host yet again it seems that they did have database issues after all, I don’t know if its the typical host strategy to deny technical errors at first request but they responded more honest the second time around, or they didn’t know the first time?
Anyways, seems like they had server problems that they have sorted out now, things are running way smoother both back-end and front-end. So I guess that rules out any problems with the WP client – for now.
Thanks for responding Cubecolour.

In reply to: Extremely slow WP. Back end work impossibleOk, I’ll contact my local host again and try to get some honest answers out of them. The way things are right now I don’t dare to uninstall the theme or switch back and forth between themes. Seems like everything is about to be sucked down the big hole of errors. I’ll be back soon to follow up this case.

In reply to: Extremely slow WP. Back end work impossibleDid you experience it to be slow? I only have 4 plugins in total. Does that slow stuff down this much? I don’t know if I cant trust my host cause they always seem to say that everythings ok with them, they never seem to admit anything. I’m afraid to switch themes cause I have spent weeks day and night rigging the theme I have, if I switch and come back Im afraid all of my configurations will be gone or re arranged. Ive read that WP can act like that.
But do you think this is a local problem with WordPress? Im getting weird error messages like “you dont have right to delete this” when trying to delete a page, or “you have already installed WordPress when trying to edit something. Everything just seem like chaos.
