  • @billmcq Thanks for this. I did a lot of Googling and troubleshooting and trial and error when I had the same problem, but couldn’t figure it out until I found this thread. I don’t know why I didn’t try uninstalling Soliloquy, but once I did, I finally got the sidebar selection to work. I was then able to reactivate Soliloquy and the sidebar stuck. I’ve been using Soliloquy and Genesis Simple Sidebars on this site for years, but hadn’t had a problem until now.

Based on what other folks said, I wonder what else is special about our sites that is causing this conflict.

UPDATE: scratch this, I’m a moron. All my problems are fixed, thanks again for all the help!

Again, thank you. That one seems pretty obvious. As a WP newbie, I’m still pretty thrown off by the jargon sometimes and I miss the obvious. One (hopefully final) question:

I implemented this with ‘single’ and I now get this for posts with parent categories:

    Minnesota
    Minnesota/Hennepin
    Minnesota/Hennepin/Minneapolis

Preferably, I’d just like to have

    Minnesota/Hennepin/Minneapolis

Each term would be a link to the category. Make sense? Possible?

    Thanks for the patient help.

Wow, well that’s beautiful, thank you!

I was actually hoping to figure out how to do that within the posts themselves, too. To show the locations referred to in each original post… Basically modifying ‘the_category’ tag, I think.

    Does that make sense?

    Many, many thanks!

NM… Thanks. I won’t go into the gory details, but your response spurred me to look at some things I hadn’t thought to look at… I haven’t gotten it fixed yet, but I need to try a few more things and I’m hopeful. I think I was being a bit of a space cadet. I’ll come back and bug you if I’m still not successful.

    Thanks a bunch.

    Bizarre.

The thing is, the buttons have never shown up since I installed WordPress. And CTRL-F5 is of no help either.

Alas. Luckily I still remember my HTML.
