I see now. I have front page set to latest posts. Do I have to have one, or the other? I like the idea of having the posts accessible in both locations.
Otherwise, I guess I’ll use a static page.
EDIT: okay, I tried switching to a static page, and this will do what I wanted! Thanks again!

In reply to: Database Update Required error in WordPress 4.7 updateI tried the theme suggestion first, that didn’t work. What worked was deleting everything except the wp-folder, then uploading a fresh download. I got promoted to enter database info again, and then promoted to update database.
It worked this time!

In reply to: Full menu not loading on mobile.Okay, thanks for looking. I was using a twenty eleven based child theme called NomNom. The first theme to support responsive menus is twenty twelve – found this somewhere within the forums.
So, decided to switch to twenty eleven and try to recreate as much as possible from the previous theme. This is a parks and recreation site, and they were concerned that people using mobile devices could find things easily because of the menu issue.
I used 2 great tips for customizing twenty twelve. Here’s one for replacing the site title with an image.
The other involved creating a second sidebar on the left.
I used this tutorial written by my previous theme’s author.I am still doing some tweaks on the site; but it is doing what I needed.

In reply to: static site title image above header on twenty twelve child theme?I found a link referenced on the forums after digging a bit more. I’m using a child theme.
This forum post addressed adding an image in place of the site title.

It is in the root folder now.
