I did delete the wp-admin and wp-include folders as instructed in the manual upgrade directions.

Thanks I actually moved the plugins folder to a separate new folder expecting that to work after the first time. I thought the plugins could have done the damage. But moved it back after it had no effect.

I will try it all one more time, but if all else fails I will assume it is not a fixable situation and do a complete fresh reinstall. I will give you a reply once done.

Thanks too by the way for your time and support. I do appreciate your help and suggestions.

Thank you laliz for the links. I did the manual upgrade exactly as written but I didn’t get anywhere with that as well. The back end is still completely off limits. All I get now is white pages of death…
I took a back up before the steps but I am not sure what else I can do other than a complete fresh reinstall. which obviously I do not want to do.

Any more hints would be helpful.

P.S. I also did the advanced upgrade procedure, but same thing… scratching head.

    THanks.

Same with my site. I sought answers but was told to remove the .maintenance file from the core. The problem is my site didn’t create a .maintenance file. I tried to create a dummy one and remove that,. but still cannot get into my site’s back end.

site https://bee-pop.com Any help will be useful. My guess is, the 4.21 update was buggy when released and not tested enough before delivery. I assume we have little choice but to wait for the devs to give us some info and the why’s. Several threads showing the same thing. I just tried to reinstall the update from my cpanel area, site loads fine but the dashboard and everything else in the back end is showing blank now.

@djembe85, Any chance that the .maintance file would be called something else? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks

@djembe85, Thanks I will give it a try. I already cleared the cookies before I wrote here just in case something was not displaying correctly because of them. Thanks for the quick replies. I’ll be back…

I have the same problem. I just upgraded just now, and the upgrade area is no longer available neither is the dashboard. I cannot do new posts neither. I think I will need to go and do a manual upgrade again, just not sure if I should risk doing that.

I too will be appreciative of any advice.

    Thanks

Yesterday the said they bumped it up to the max their service allows which was 512mb. About the sites, I am running 3 with the same provider and no issues on them, just they stayed at 3.9. I understand my situation is unique but like I said, I have been going through trouble shooting threads, and direct talks with my server provider and the theme devs.

This is from the php.ini file

    request data
    memory_limit = 512M

So I assume it is alright…

P.s. after the fresh install, I will post back if further issues arise. I have done a database back up and hope I don’t loose too much work that went into the site already.

Once again I appreciate your help. Talk later. and Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, I thought that was the case, but every plugin I updated. So I am not sure if this is that issue or wordpress itself.

When I deactivated the plugins I got

    bcmath
    BCMath support enabled

    Directive Local Value Master Value
    bcmath.scale 0 0

    bz2
    BZip2 Support Enabled
    Stream Wrapper support compress.bzip2://
    Stream Filter support bzip2.decompress, bzip2.compress
    BZip2 Version 1.0.5, 10-Dec-2007

    calendar
    Calendar support enabled

    cgi-fcgi

Which seems to me something serious is broken not just plugins I have a screen shot of it. It looks like the phpadmin back end coming through which is not normal. and dare I say, not associated with plugins directly.

The wordpress admin dash board only displays error messages as well, and on every refressh it is something different.

Is the wp 3.9.2 such a major change that it will break every theme and or plugin, including woocommerce, bbpress, buddypress, etc? I haven’t read nor heard of it before.

AS my site is pretty well a useless dying sod at the moment, I am forced to have to do a fresh install and start again.

Thanks for your help, but I am sincerely concerned that something is wrong with the latest update.

For your information, my site was set to automatic upgrades so while I was on holidays the wordpress installation did an automatic install. Only after that did I get these issues lasting me this whole week.

Love wordpress, but I just don’t know what to do or where to go anymore with this.
