In reply to: Text on Category pagesI’ve read through the child them page. I would go on to read the other links at the bottom of that page. However, I’m overwhelmed already. I see I can’t copy functions php though.
I honestly have little idea how to do this and do not want my site messed up.
I think I’ll leave it as is. Or try to find a way to use the parent theme and just use the info provided on the category template codex here on WordPress.
If I can ever figure out how to use that code provided there, then that will fix my problem. But of course, it’s not the best way to do what I want. However, that was my original question. I hope someone will be able to help me understand where to put that code.
But thank you for the encouragement to create a child theme. When I’m not such a novice, I’ll try to create a child theme.
Thanks,

In reply to: Text on Category pagesThank you so much for your quick reply. That was awesome of you.
You’ve encouraged me to finally make a child theme, something I’ve never done.
I saw the post on how to do it, but if you can answer one more question.
I’d like to know if since I’ve made changes to the parent theme, changes I definitely want to keep. There’s not many, and I may have forgotten exactly what changes I’ve made. How do I keep all of those changes inside of a new child theme? Once I activate the child theme, I do not want anything changed from how the site appears now.
Could I just create files for every file in my parent theme and copy the exact files I currently have, including the ones I have modified?
Then just add that category-travelviews.php.
Once I edit category-travelviews.php, I’d just put my text I want to show up as an intro to that category and then when I click on older posts (page 2) that intro won’t appear.
I hope I have this all understood correctly.
Again, thanks for your help.
Brian

In reply to: [Slideshow] Width set, but not displaying correctlyHi Stefan,
Good day to you.
I’m not sure how anything changed. It was working yesterday morning, but then all of a sudden it shrunk. I never edited that front page of my site. I never changed anything.
The way I have it set up on the wordpress page itself is the way I’ve always had it. There is no designation that I input on the page saying 244 pixels wide. The slideshow shrunk to that on its own. And it worked perfectly with the same exact coding on the page.
Is there anything else you would suggest I do? I really want to keep using the plugin. I think it’s the best out there. To me, this is just some sort of glitch on how it shrunk.
As for the page I’ve inserted the slideshow short code, nothing has been changed on it (by me) in over six months and the Slideshow was working perfectly all that time.
Any tips you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

In reply to: I messed up my search functionThanks Andrew.
Also, is it a premium theme if it is free? I know they offer a paid version too, but I don’t have that one.
If I change themes, I wonder if I can still have the post-type “portfolio items” show up with the new theme if the new theme only supports “posts” not “portfolio items.”
Thanks,

In reply to: [Slideshow] Slideshows created but list of slideshows is emptyHi Stefan,
I’ll try that. I’ve used your plugin for about two months over at my pizza blog. I’ve had no problems using it there. Now I am using it on my photography site.
I’ll let you know what happens.

In reply to: [Slideshow] Slideshows created but list of slideshows is emptyMore info…
When I create a slideshow without images, it shows up in the list.
When I add an image, the slideshow turns from a post type “slideshow” to post type “post” and then disappears from the slideshow list.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Sensitive] short codes show on featured pagesThanks Shaon. Sorry I reposted similar question yesterday. Since there was no workaround for this, I went ahead and added 80 characters. I think that will work fine for me. Great theme. I’ll need to review it for you and give you some gold stars : ) Keep up the great work.

In reply to: [Frantic] Using Logo for header imageThank you so much for your help. I definitely need to work on making a child theme.
Should I close this and open with a new title? I still can’t fix the problem I’m having.
Thank you,
