In reply to: Very sluggish back end, at best!My load exceeds the memory size. Here are the numbers:
(db 4.913M ~ load 32.3 of 32M)
I brought the load down to 26.11 by inactivating some vital plugins but the backend is still so sluggish that working with the site is impossible.
I will try the error log situation that you’ve mentioned after the techs on my hosting co looks at the site. I have opened a ticket. Your further insights will be appreciated.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: "?????" instead of wordsThis is a good start but I must wait until my hosting company look it at. I have paid them to move the site from one account to another. This move has caused a lot of problems. Apparently, the tech who is doing it isn’t sharp enough. Initially, they told me that “the site was up”. They are very slow in responding to me and I am getting sick. It has been 4 days my site is down.

In reply to: Lost page and post titles!I deactivated a plugin called “Gallery Transformation” and all the titles for pages and posts came back!
This must have been the culprit.
I spent about 5 hours trying to fix it.
When I think about it now, the problem happened right after I had installed this plugin!
I learned a lesson the hard way.
Thank you mbrsolution for attempting to help.

In reply to: Plugin PhobiaI will esmi! and I can’t thank YOU enough. A great part of this for me has been, believe it or not, getting applause from friends and family for having this “great” site. LOL

In reply to: Plugin PhobiaI have to mention one thing, so there wouldn’t be a confusion. I am very thankful that such a platform as WordPress exists. I tried another CMS, Joomla; I couldn’t figure it out as easily. The fact that I have a site is a miracle! Thanks to WordPress! ??

In reply to: Plugin PhobiaBy “risk” I just had my own predicament in mind, namely, my site crashing.

In reply to: Plugin PhobiaAverage may not be the right term! To me average user is one who doesn’t know exactly all the terms mean. In the cache plugin example, there are a lot of variables to consider and there are a lot of choices to make. An average user of WordPress, doesn’t know the meaning of all of the terms. All he/she may know is that the plugin potentially enhances the site load.
I consider myself an average user.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: Plugin PhobiaI think there should be other ways of evaluating plugins. Merely going by the number of stars doesn’t seem sufficient.
If a plugin’s use is not for average users, this should be mentioned clearly and a “warning” must be specified. “Risks” if any, must be specified.
The two crashes mentioned in my first post occurred when I was dealing with cache related plugins. In the 2nd case all I did, I tried to uninstall it, the way it mentioned within the plugin. Now as another poster said earlier, since we use a lot of plugins, incompatibilities can be cause.
Unfortunately, unless I take a course or two, I wouldn’t learn everything that I need to know. So, I will have a slow site for a while. https://www.bemache.com
