Same thing happened to me yesterday. Unfortunately, I had never had a problem before so my database backups weren’t up to date and they deleted several months worth of work.

I have since changed my passwords and will backup my database more frequently. I also found out that it helps to change permissions on your WordPress configuration file to 400. I think this piece of advice should be included in the WordPress installation guide.

Hopefully they won’t be back, but I’m a bit paranoid that other losers with nothing better to do might try to hack back in since my site too was put up for diplay like a slaughtered animal.

It’s a bummer, it’s not like I’m some big corporation or something, I’m just the little guy who seeks comfort in writing and don’t understand the point of targeting a personal blog. Needless to say, I’m feeling pretty discouraged right now.
