I just bought more disk space instead. I’m already uploading smaller images than original (all are under 1MB each). I’ll look into the WebP format — thanks for that. Hopefully you’ll support offsite storage in a future version!

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 Upgrade@ian-helliwell I noticed the same thing just now and came to this post. I’m able to update again. Are you using Async JavaScript? I’m suspecting it might have been that one, but I’m not sure. Either way, my issue is gone.

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeThanks for the info! A malware scan and work done by Sucuri didn’t find anything, so I think there is a conflict preventing updates for me. I’ll keep manually updating (renaming the files folder and then reinstalling) and hopefully the next release fixes it.

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeWow, so you rolled back to 5.7, basically? And that worked? I’d rather do manual updates until 5.9 fixes it (I assume). Does anyone know anything about the next minor version?

In reply to: Can’t update plugins since 5.8 UpgradeI have nightly backups via VaultPress that should be complete enough. I’m having Sucuri take a look in case it is security related. When they’re done I’ll do some manual updates.
Could a plugin do this kind of thing to core WP functionality? I haven’t changed the site in years other than updates.

In reply to: [WP GPX Maps] Version 1.7.01 is not useableI also found a few white pages with this update. I recommend using WP Rollback just for this reason. Once error messages showed it was WP GPX Maps that was causing the issue, I rolled back to version 1.7.00 and my errors went away. So, it’s something in this latest, minor version. Good luck, all!
Your site has it enabled — you can see the reCAPTCHA icon in the bottom right of the page. It’s different than previous versions (from Google). Check out https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/v3 for an overview of the version you’re using. Looks good!
