Just to let you know that the problem was nothing to do with WP or woocommerce but a server issue.
The host simply reset all permissions on this installation and everything now works
the little hair i have left is safely still on my head
??

I am working on Chrome and everything works if I am logged in. As soon as I try it anonymously nothing gets added to cart.
Oddly tried it with Microsoft Edge and it works perfectly fine.

It is not the mobile version as I thought. I was testing on the mobile without being logged in.
It seems that on either desktop or mobile, if I am not logged in then the cart empties itself when visiting it
I have just deactivated W3 cache
I shall read earlier posts on the subject

thanks for your reply. I got it to work so that a when customer posts on the page it also populates their own FB page too. I was just wondering of it was capable of sending the comment to the sites own FB page aswell.
