Some more info. Do_shortcode does not work with [toc] because its executing it outside of the_content(). It working as a shortcode inside blobks.
But i want toc right after the article title, in a custom layout together with article infos and author.
It looks like its gonna work in a sidebar but its not clear for me how to do it.

Found it: echo do_shortcode(‘[toc]’).

But anchors does not work in this case.
In the console: “ezTOC scrollTarget Not Found: [id=”Anchor”]”

Ill try to revert back to php 7.4 in the next days, unfortunately its a live site, I cant test/stress it freely.
It’s probably going to fix that. Infact I encountered the issue just right after the php 8 update. But the questions are:

1: Why this is involving only part of the galleries (the older ones) ?
2: How can I update them so I can pass to php 8 ?

oK. Solved with a workaround. Switched back to php 7.0 and everything works well. There are issues with php 7.2, and nextgen gallery. When nextgen is activated xmlrpc.php stop to communicate and every other plugin or app (jetpack or android wordpress) wont work.

If you encounter this issue you need to roll back server php to 7.0.

Hope it helps, I spent hours finding it.

Same problem.

It’s clear that the issue is related to the xmlrpc: when nextgen is active Jetpack plugin can’t connect. WordPress android can’t refresh and update content.
Xmlrpc.php gives a white page (instead it should answer with: “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only”.

This happens on somes hosting environment.
Can’t identify which server configuration make this happens.
I’m trying for months with any result. Please imagely support help us to solve.

Yes, I will go with custom taxonomies. I met so many websites using categories for positioning purpose, I’m also got confused. I think it could be the worst error.

The only doubt I have is about the possibility of filtering in the backend article listing. I’m not sure I can do it.
