In reply to: after up to 2.8 plugin autoupdate problemYou don’t understand what I’m saying:
– go to https://wordpress-deutschland.org/
– download and unpack the .zip file
– upload the whole thing to your server, overwriting the old filesVoilà.

In reply to: after up to 2.8 plugin autoupdate problem@arzlonga: I believe you are right! Like you, I just clicked “update now” in the backend when it told me that 2.8 was available. But instead of the German version, it installed the English 2.8 files. Maybe that was causing the problem!
I just downloaded the full German version from the German WordPress site. I copied it to my server and hope that the error will be gone now – I can’t test it right now because no plugins need to be updated at the moment… ??

In reply to: after up to 2.8 plugin autoupdate problem@tillo: I know, I’m having the problem with all other plugins, too. Nextgen was just an example. It used to work fine before.
I notice your error message is in German as well – so maybe it’s a bug in the German version?

In reply to: after up to 2.8 plugin autoupdate problemYeah, that works, of course – but I’d rather get the auto-update working again. ??

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Can’t generate thumbnailsThe issue with the missing menu tabs in the backend just gave me an idea: I checked all the files that NGG adds to the head and got 403 errors for all of them!
The files I am talking about are:
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/css/jquery.ui.tabs.css?ver=2.5.0
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/css/nggadmin.css?ver=2.7.0
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/jquery.MultiFile.js?ver=1.1.1
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/swfupload.js?ver=2.2.0
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/swfupload.handler.js?ver=1.0.0
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/ngg.ajax.js?ver=1.0.0
https://www.domain.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/js/ngg.progressbar.js?ver=1.0.0None of these show up when I call them directly in the browser. Not even if I leave the query string at the end away. As if the files weren’t there, but they are!
Other (native WordPress) files however, do work. For example:
https://www.domain.com/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js?ver=1.2.6
I don’t know – maybe this somehow related to permalinks/mod_rewrite?

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Can’t generate thumbnailsNo, no flickrss. And, why would it work on one server then and not on the other?
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Can’t generate thumbnailsI have this issue, too. No thumbnails, no error message. I don’t even have a progress bar – only a “0%” which is there all the time, even when not uploading. (See below)
I also tried smaller images, even tiny ones like 17×11 pixels, but it doesn’t work either.These are the server settings:
* Betriebssystem : Linux
* Server : Apache
* Speicherverbrauch : 13.92 MByte
* MySQL Version : 4.1.22-log
* SQL Modus : Nicht gesetzt
* PHP Version : 5.2.6

* XBM Support : Ja
* JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support : JaI copied the whole blog to my local server, and everything works fine there. Here are the settings:
* Betriebssystem : WINNT
* Server : Apache/2.2.6 (Win32) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.6 OpenSSL/0.9.8e mod_autoindex_color PHP/5.2.4
* Speicherverbrauch : 16.43 MByte

* JPG Support : Ja
* PNG Support : Ja
* WBMP Support : Ja
* XPM Support : Nein
* XBM Support : Ja
* JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support : NeinThe memory limit is higher, but I do not think that’s the reason. 40M should be more than enough for a 17×11 px image, shouldn’t it?
Also, on the live server, the nice tab menu in the backend won’t work. Instead, I only see ugly text links for “Create new gallery”, “Upload images” etc. And as mentioned above, there is always that strange “0%” in the top left corner. See here: https://img27.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nextgen.jpg
I don’t know if that has anything to do with it – it’s just another difference I noticed between my live and local server. It can’t be caused by a missing css file or something, because it is really an exact copy of the version on the live server.

In reply to: Time translation issueI read somewhere that you can also use
setlocale(LC_ALL, 'Dutch')
instead ofsetlocale(LC_ALL, 'nl_NL')
. Maybe it’s worth a try…?Sorry, I don’t have any other ideas. ??
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Time translation issueMaybe Dutch locales aren’t installed on your server. Maybe you should test it on another server to see if that’s the reason.

In reply to: [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Next-Gen upload Image into Post FreezesI have that problem, too. Everything works fine on my local server, but online it won’t work for images that exceed a certain size.
My memory_limit is set to 40 MB, so that can’t possibly be the reason.Example:
Image 1 (doesn’t work):
1680 x 1031 x 4 = 6928320 ~= 6.61 MBImage 2 (works fine):
1280 x 768 x 4 = 3932160 ~= 3.84 MBNow, they’re both far below 40 MB – so what causes the first one to fail?
—–
Edit: The problem doesn’t seem to be caused by the Nextgen plugin – I can’t upload the first image using the WordPress image upload either. It won’t create a thumbnail either.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: wp-blog-header.php killing sessions?I found out that my hoster had register_globals set to “On”, which was causing the problem.
I simply had to upload a file named php.ini containing the following line:
register_globals Off
After that, there is no need to comment “wp_unregister_GLOBALS()” out any more.

In reply to: wp-blog-header.php killing sessions?I commented out
wp_unregister_GLOBALS(); and my sessions are no longer being killed.THANK YOU!!! I could kiss you!
This has been driving me totally crazy, especially because my session script was working fine on my local server, but online it didn’t.I wonder why the wp_unregister_GLOBALS() function unregisters $_SESSION on my hoster’s server, but on my local server it doesn’t…!?!
