I didn’t even notice that a particular plugin was being discussed, had had a hard time finding anything about this issue on any forum. The problem I was having was on straight WordPress, not using any plugin at all to begin with.

In reply to: [Simple Share Buttons Adder] strange text shows up when sharing with facebookI had a play with this again yesterday and discovered how Facebook decides what to include in a post. You can check this for any page at FB’s debug page, here: <https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/>. That shows the meta tags FB is picking up.
I found the simplest way to change the meta description was to install the Yoast plugin (which I had intended to get round to anyway).
