Thanks for the detailed explanations. I finally prefer to avoid this adventure at every update of the plugin and of my theme. I installed another plugin which has theme compatibility. I continue, of course, to consider that Educator is a very good plugin and has a great potential. But in my opinion, theme compatibility is a priority, as many users dont have developing skills or prefer out of the box solutions.

While your plugin seems to be very good, your instructions in the link
you give are not very clear (for someone who is not a developer) as for the order of the steps we should take to resolve the problem (isnt it more reasonable to start by creating the ibeducator directory in our theme firstly ?) and as for the instruction about outputing course categories.

Well, I copied the templates directory in my child theme and renamed it ibeducator. Then I modified the archive-ib_educator_course.php according to your instruction.

The courses archive https://mysite.com/courses/ (I can’t put a link as this part of my site is private) still breaks the layout.
The sidebar is in the bottom. (I remember that with another plugin I had a similar problem which has been resolved with a get_sidebar/get_footer code I added which I found by googling).

The other pages that I made with the shortcodes work.

I found a ibeducator/course/categories.php but I dont know how to use the code you give in the instruction about outputing course categories.

Please, give grandmother instructions: step one, step two… do that, don’t do that, edit (add or replace line) in that file which you’ll find there etc. I hope you will review that draft and give clearer instructions, as we are not all developers and what is obvious to you is not obvious for everyone. It is a major problem. If the plugin breaks the layout, you simply cannot use it.

The problem is not really the bug, these things may occur with plugins, but the developer’s attitude who disappeared since three days. We dont know if the bug has been found and a fix is prepared or if they found nothing so far.
Hopefully my site isnt yet in production. Imagine if you have a course and you dont know what to say to the participants.
I am very skeptic about the developer’s attitude, not very professional. How can we trust them in the future ?

This feature is strongly needed for community networks. Integration with buddypress (tab on the profile) would be perfect ! I am adding this plugin to my favorites…

Yes, the feature that is lacking is more flexibility for the subscriber role. Just Completing/uncompleting is not very interesting if they haven’t the possibility to edit their own tasks. Unfortunately I cannot give them the capability “Edit To-Do Item” because it affects other people’s tasks.

That said, the plugin is useful given that there are 5000 active installs. I am totally conscious that I am trying to repurpose this plugin to fit a community network needs. Obviously this is not the purpose this plugin has been made.

Maybe with OptimaList I’ll have more chance.

Thanks for the code, but before doing that I tested the permissions and there I have a problem. Look at the screnshot

My subscribers should be able to edit their tasks, but if I give them the capability “Edit To-Do Item” they can edit others’ tasks as well. This is normal for the Group level where the work is collaborative, not for the Master level. Here is what I see in the settings:

“The Master setting allows you to have one master list (created by an admin) for all users with individual completion of items.”

What do you mean by individual completion of items, when others are able to edit your task?

I really dont understand what is the real back-end behind that capability.

Another alternative would be to have the possibility to make the Individual level visible. Even in that case the “addedby” option would be needed so that other users can identify the authors.

PS I would like to see an option in OptimaList for the case I mention in this thread.

Jerome, I can’t verify because this part of my site is private and I see nothing from outside. It may be your cache. Clean the cache you use for your site and the cache of your browser and try again.

I cannot find another explanation, except if there is a bug. The truth to be said, this plugin behaves with some instability in my site due maybe in conflicts with other plugins and you may experience a similar situation.
(I am testing different plugins at this moment and if I finally keep it I will post my problems).

En cas de doute, tu peux toujours chercher ton fichier NomDuPlugin-fr_FR.mo (via ftp). Tu le renommes provisoirement. Ton plugin sur le site affichera tout en anglais et tu pourras voir le terme exacte.”edit posts” fait partie de la terminologie wordpress et correspond à une capability.
