    Hi Ben,
Thanks for being so patient and for getting to the heart of this issue. Couldn’t figure out why the shortcode wouldn’t take, but this explains it. Since my website is a simple, noncommercial site to share my poetry, I’ve figured another way to inform people how to subscribe, one that doesn’t involve popups or flashy buttons that some people find intrusive. Thanks again. I love the elegant simplicity of Chosen.

I was trying a different subscribe plugin. OK, so now I’ve installed and activated the MailOptin you suggested. I am trying to add a simple subscribe form to this page (https://genetwaronitepoet.com/blog/) that appears every time I add a new post. I can’t find in this plugin how you would install the form.
    Thanks

Thanks, Ben. I tried both your suggestions, but no luck. I’m thinking I shouldn’t have to mess around with short codes anyway. All I want is to add a simple subscirbe form, nothing fancy. Could the problem be with the fact that I am using a special WP theme? Would I have to mess with the theme editor (which I don’t feel comfortable doing)?
    Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the speedy reply, Ben. I installed a plugin and it gave me a simple shortcode to add my subscription form to my blog ([arrow_forms id=’513′]), but when I try to enter it into the shortcode block and update, nothing happens. Is there another step I need to take to enter shortcode iinto my pages?
    Thanks!

Thanks, Ben! You solved my problem. I love the clean spare look of Chosen, like the blank pages in a poet’s notebook.

By the way, George, I have managed to change the template for my static home page from “Landing page” to “Landing page with Header.” That now gives me a compressed menu (three short lines) at the top of the page, which has also been changed on the other pages. While I do like this streamlined navigation menu, it is not as user friendly as a simple list of the pages. Is there any way to change this?
    Thanks again for your help.

Thanks, Georoge. Actually I was trying out some other options last night and somehow lost all the content on my home page. Now I’ve tried changing the template for the home page to “Landing page with Header” wghich does give me a menu of sorts but not as user friendly as a more traditional navigation bar. Any suggestions? I am using the Chosen theme. Could this be a glitch with that particular theme?
    Cheers,
