I’ll try the plugin again shortly.

In reply to: [Plugin: wp-Typography] WP-Typography Problems….1. We use a caching plugin, and have a powerful dedicated server. But load times are still around 1 second. We’re used to a fraction of that.
2. I didn’t do the theme. That person left us a long, long time ago. I welcome help, but will make that change in the meantime.

In reply to: No “Upgrade” subpanel under ToolsI wanted to update that cPanel support fixed the problem. It required changing a table string in the WordPress database. Once that was done, everything was fine.
I can get you the string, but I suspect it’ll be better if you have cPanel or your host’s support people work it out.
I can post the replacement string and instructions if enough people want it, but such things are dangerous (backups advised).

In reply to: No “Upgrade” subpanel under ToolsI have the identical problem with 2.8 and the 2.8.1b1 as well. I don’t have “sufficient permissions” to access that section.
cPanel support says it’s a WordPress issue. But has anyone had this problem who doesn’t use cPanel to install WordPress?
Anyone?

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SEO Boost] Removing “SEO Powered by SEO Boost from PcDrome”My other issue is the one of non-response. Too many plugin authors ignore posts or emails containing constructive criticism or simple questions about how their product is used. One author wrote me back, after I sent two unanswered emails and made several posts, reminding me that I wasn’t hiring him for paid work.
The point being that if one wants to enter the open source sandbox, don’t expect to get rich from donations. If a plugin author can’t provide even basic support, surely there’s something else they can do to spend their free time aside from writing plugins and ignoring the users of those plugins.
Peace,
GeneThat situation applies to any Google Analytics plugin I tried.
For now, I use server-side caching (eAccelerator) and the counting is far more accurate. Not as good as a server log, but better than with Super Cache.
I wrote to the author of Super Cache and never got a response.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SEO Boost] Removing “SEO Powered by SEO Boost from PcDrome”I hear a deafening silence. ??
Peace,
GeneI finally got a response after writing twice using the author’s contact form. He seems to feel that if you aren’t hiring him for one of his services, he has no reason to support his free and open source products.
My solution, after getting a half-baked email response, was to switch to another plugin, Google Analyticator, which provides similar functions. Hopefully the author of that plugin will show more respect for the people who take the time to install and use his products.
Peace,
GeneSo the author writes on his Contact page:
For issues with WordPress plugins, please use the www.remarpro.com support forums, I will answer your question there! Support email about plugins will usually NOT be answered. Each plugin page has a link to that plugins support page on the forums.
So what am I missing? There has been no response here whatever.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-SEO Boost] Removing “SEO Powered by SEO Boost from PcDrome”What needs to be done is to make the footer text optional, with a checkbox, as it’s done with the Platinum SEO plugin. This is a non-starter for me, and I won’t use your plugin unless there’s a version without this feature.
You can contact me with the info directly as follows:
Go to https://www.macnightowl.com
Click Contact Us and send me your email and other details.
Thank you.

In reply to: [Plugin: Google Analytics for WordPress] Google Analytics and WP-SuperCacheI noticed the same thing. It appears that the cached files aren’t being properly counted, but this is not the problem with this plugin. It will happen if you just manually set up analytics on your blog.
I don’t know if other caching utilities, such as HyperCache, impact this. Anyone know?
On my server, we use eAccelerator, and an object cache plugin with WordPress and we still get speedy performance and far more accurate stats. But, folks, the most accurate stats will still be generated by apps that read your logs directly. These mumbo-jumbo measuring techniques may provide a fair part of the picture, but not all of it.
Peace,
GeneNot to be obnoxious about this, but I would have hoped someone would have a simple answer to this question by now.

In reply to: [Plugin: Simple Tags] Tag The Net Feature dont work at 1.6.3 and 1.6.4Just an update, since the developer doesn’t seem terribly interested in this page: With the new 1.6.5 version, I see no difference in dealing with the problems reported above. Hopefully there will be an update or feedback from the author about these persistent issues.

In reply to: [Plugin: Simple Tags] Tag The Net Feature dont work at 1.6.3 and 1.6.4My situation is different. The “Tag the Net” feature never works regardless of the size of the post. On one blog with posts averaging less than 900 words, Yahoo works. On another, where the posts are over 1,000 words, it doesn’t work.
I am using 1.6.4 with WordPress 2.7. These features worked with previous versions of your plugin, then one or two updates back, stopped!
So where do we stand here?
