Actually, I think my problem is a little different. The site functions correctly, but the only page that caches on the entire site is the home page. Not even the other pages (as opposed to posts) are cached.

I found a partial fix for anyone who is interested. I’d really like these pages to be completely gone, but at least here’s some instructions (in the comment thread) on how to disable the annoying comments and pingbacks on media view pages.

I think this is inherent in WP now. I’m looking for a way to disable those pages that contain the images as well. They are showing up in Google results and people are finding ways of submitting pingbacks on these pages even though I have all pingbacks and trackbacks turned off.

This wasn’t a problem, but I just noticed it now. Strangely, my wife’s site, which is based on the same theme design, does not have the problem. I’m happy for her, but disappointed in JetPack.

Man, I could kiss you right now. I just wasted several hours mucking about with the CSS conditional statement, but was seeing unreliable results. I also hated how the comment box would appear and disappear with the loading of the CSS, depending on where the statement was placed.

The bottom line is that your code completely side-steps the aggravation and works very well with the WP default template theme (which I have now hacked to all hell much to my pleasure). You made these last two hours of insanity well worth the trouble. I wish I knew PHP a little better to code such elegant solutions. But until that day comes, I am grateful to gurus such as yourself.
