  • This Plugin has caused me to rethink my website creation methodology. I’ve come to the realization that the first step to website design should be related to getting good promotional materials and that starts with brochures and other materials that enlist a graphics designer. With this Plugin, I’ve found that once you have a good promotional document in PDF format, it’s a piece of cake to create a website that sparkles. However, one thing that’s missing is that links are not active.

I created a website and used PDF Embedder to add a PDF that contains links. The presentation of the resulting web page is dazzling. I found one thing that might provide a hint about why the links on the page are not active. Using Adobe Acrobat Pro, I attempted to create PDF from Webpage. In theory, I think this should produce something that looks like the original PDF from which the web page was created. However, part of the resulting PDF contains graphics from the webpage but a major portion of the web page does not get created, instead I get a large banner/box that says “Loading”.

If you can fix the issue with PDF links not being active in a web page created using this plugin, I believe you have the potential to change the web creation paradigm, especially for folks just getting started. Lately, when people approach me about getting a website, I’ve been advising them to start by a spectacular one to four page brochure in PDF format and use that as the basis for their website. Of course, other pages can be added. However, having promotional materials (in PDF format) bring branding information that’s inherent in marketing materials. Having that in your website goes a long way to dealing with selection of a theme, for many one of the most difficult aspects of creating a website.

As I say, the one thing that is a sticking point is that links in the PDF are not active in the resulting webpage when built using PDF Embedder. That defeats some of the inherent utility of this Plugin.

I do hope you can address this. I believe it would elevate the usefulness of this plugin tremendously.

If it’s difficult to make links interactive, another possibility might be to add an option to link to another URL, similar to the option when adding images. Essentially, the area encompassing the PDF becomes a live link so when a user clicks on the page, they can be taken to another page. As I say, this would be essentially the same method used to link an image to a URL.

I love this Plugin. It’s unfortunate that interactive links are not currently working. That would add tremendous value. I’m trying to create a one-page landing page. Not having interactive links makes this a bit problematic.

    Thank you,
