Thanks. And I tried downloading it again and got the same. Interesting. The only thing I can think of is that for a short period, and it was just my luck, the zip file was either corrupted (at source or in download) or was not right. Either way, I am up and running. I still have that original zip file. But the point is mute now.

I suggest that someone at WordPress download their zip file, and then extract it, and they will see that there is no wp-admin folder in root.

The wordpress files were installed in root. And the wp-admin folder is not in root. It is in a folder called wordpress. Hence the url example.com/wp-admin/install.php fails because the wp-admin folder is not in root.

Yes, as I mentioned in my posts,
1) https://example.com/wp-admin/install.php doesn’t work because the wp-admin folder is not in root. It is in a folder called wordpress.
2) Pointing my web browser to the site (e.g. example.com) did nothing. I get a blank screen.

The wordpress.zip file needs to be fixed, or the instructions changed to let people know they have to navigate to the install.php file in the wp-admin folder that is in the wordpress folder. I hope this make sense, I tried to explain it as clearly as I could.

In order for it to work for me, I had to physically move the wp-admin folder out of the wordpress folder and into root. The instructions did not mention that.
