It started working without any changes to the css. Since the issue was showing up across multiple devices I assume it was related to cache.

Yes I have a development site that is a clone of the live site but I’m not comfortable in posting login credentials here. Do you have a way I can get the info to your securely?
All of my media files are linked to ‘attachment’, I read somewhere that foo gallery images should be linked to ‘file’. I can’t find anyplace where I can manually change this or a setting where all future media would automatically linked to ‘file’

)Sorry but you won’t see any rotated images. Out of frustration I took the 13 out of 39 images that were rotate and converted them from .jpg to .png. then replaced them in the gallery. I have hundreds of people viewing the gallery this weekend and just couldn’t wait.
The thing that bothers me the most is how all images in the Media library show a broken link when you click to edit.
