  • so, i am getting a lot of spam on mine. like, every other day, i get about 5-6 posts such as: “[email protected]” posting “[email protected].” and then the same thing, where they post another email address from wrestlingmidwest.com (which is where the site is hosted) doing the same thing. after managing it, deleting the spam, a few days later, they reaapear. i can’t keep doing that. you have anything to block that? and i am running 1.12. Will updating fix the spam issue?

    In reply to: Votio Plugin not Validating

    I can’t even see mine.

    I have installed votio.php in my wordpress plugins page, activated. I put the correct code into my sidebar, and created a post category specifically for it. Even named it ‘FFAF’ so that I wouldn’t have to change any of the existing coding. But, for some reason, after I have made a post in that category, it’s not showing up where the votio script is. It just shows up with the rest of my blog posts.

    Currently, I have it coded as:

    <ul><h2>Vote</h2>

    <li><?php votio_ballot_box(); ?></li>
    </ul>

    But, it’s not appearing. The “Vote” headline is, but not the actual code. So, what do you think is the issue?

    I will continue to play with it, but I am unsure what more I can do, not being a php-coder, and following your directions to a ‘T.’ What do you suggest?

    brilliant. ok, then here is a thought. cause that answered half of my question. could i use that same idea, with, let’s say “/?page_id=10” as the include, instead of “/my-sidebar.php”?

    ok. apologies ?? basically, when you create a new page, you have the option of choosing your template. which is great, for lets say, if i wanted to do the whole, each page has its own sidebar. BUT, what if I wanted to create a sidebar using the create a page feature. i’d create a page, with the content of that sidebar, then choose “sidebar” as the template, which I would have to create, of course.

    that’s all easy. what the question is, if i were to do something like this, could i call it in my regular page template. such as now, if you want to call the sidebar, you’d code it:

    <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

    could i use a similar code to call a specific sidebar? if so, how?

    Well, is there a template code out there that would allow me to create a page that has a template that would make it an acting sidebar (such as with includes, etc?). Meaning, I don’t have to straight code a sidebar in each template, I can just include the page, that I created with WordPress’s Page Creator section, and it will shape it necessarily?

    “There’s no way to wrap it other than to run a php function to split long words/strings of characters within a comment.” This is what I am looking for Kafkaesqui. I haven’t been able to find this hack in WordPress yet. Would anyone be interested in helping me impliment such a code on my site? The scrolling bar idea just doesn’t seem…attractive right now.

    well, i don’t think i want the post to just disapear, per ce. i’d like it to wrap, just because if someone wants to provide a URL, i’d like that URL to show in its entirety, just not to stretch the page. this seems like it would cut the comment, and that word, so that it wouldn’t be the link in its entirety.
