I’ve been looking at this further and no longer believe it to be a case of the upgrade. I upgraded to the beta and also downgraded back to my original version but still have the same issue. I also put the template and posts onto my blog which uses 2.8 and again the same problem. So at some point something had happened for it to no longer display theauthor of posts. I haven’t changed anything except upgrade and add plugins, so I’m totally stumped.

Out of interest, how does the php code know what the_author is? Where is that declared?

No I’ve tried that and also have the same issue when creating a new post. Simply doesn’t place the author of the post, but strangely does put the date

I’m having a bit of a problem with this. When I try to import the rss file which I’ve saved from IE and is .xml file, I get the error it cannot find the ID. What do I do?

See what you mean about adding users and then being able to select them as the author of an article. But how do you show who has written the article on the actual post? Is that all done in the template design?

it would be just me using word press to publish the articles, but it would need to say their name as the author. Does this mean I would need to create an account for each writer and sign in as them when publishing an article they wrote?
