Ok, now I’ve done several custom backups with an interesting result:
As soon as I uncheck the box before “Uploads” and thereby only backup the full database as well as wp-content, plugins and themes it works! The only real uploads I do are jpgs (lots of them, however).
So it seems like the error has something to do with the amount of files (the overall size of them)…
