Thank you for replying, fotisps. I didn’t set any music of my own nor did I embed anything. I went to the Customize menu, but couldn’t find anything that would let me delete or turn off the music. Where in the theme controls can I do that?

Thank you, Shawon. There’s a Web designer who’s supposed to be managing the blog, which has been incorporated into my other site. That could be the issue.

You’ll notice that it’s running on 4.6.4 instead of 4.7.3, the most recent WP version. There used to be a button on the dashboard that let me automatically update to the latest version. That button is no longer there. The Web designer’s use of access management plugins could have something to do with that. I definitely will ask him.

I’ve created child themes before; the blog is currently using one. I don’t know how to do what I want to do in this specific case within the child theme. I know CSS, but not PHP.

That sounds like something beyond my skillset, since I don’t know PHP. Is there an alternative?

I don’t think I have a cache plugin, so it has to be from the host. Will check there. For now, it’s displaying correctly on Chrome, but still showing Travelify theme on Firefox and Safari.

Thanks. Will try your suggestion. Meanwhile, even after dumping (but not deleting) the twenty fourteen theme and switching to Travelify, now the site only displays correctly on Chrome. On Firefox and Safari, it’s still showing the old twentyfourteen-child theme that 4.2 has blown up. Right now, I am hating life, and hating 4.2.

Absent being able to revert to 4.1.3, and since there seems to be no way to get twentyfourteen to behave correctly under 4.2, now have to find another theme that 4.2 will properly display. This sucks.

Is it possible to go back to 4.1.3? Because 4.2 has pretty much destroyed my display.

Not even sure I have a caching plugin. Tried clearing the cache on Chrome. No joy. Worse, the site is now screwed up on Safari and Firefox as well. My theme is actually a child of twentyfourteen, but the parent theme is just as messed up, so the child doesn’t seem to be the issue here.
