In reply to: How long time for change to kick in?Changes to your site, like a tagline, should change immediately. If you don’t see the change on facebook or your website, try clearing your cache or just using a different browser.
As for changes in google, that could take a few hours but could also take weeks.
One quick corrective action is to contact your host provider and ask them to restore your site from a previous date.
If this works and you’re up and running again, you may need to work through the resources Andrew provided to prevent these attacks moving forward.

In reply to: getting name of site into search engine@bobby, keep in mind that even if you do that, you won’t see immediate results. Additionally, even in time, you still might not see the results you’re hoping for since there are many sites competing for those keywords.
What you really need to do is perform some SEO research. There are many resources available for you online to learn more. Unfortunately, it’s outside the scope of these forums.

In reply to: New user – Administrator RoleYou’re welcome. After the scanning and solving for any corrective measure, your security plugin should also be configured to notify you if this happens again. Best of luck!

In reply to: New user – Administrator RoleIf I were you, I’d do the following immediately:
1. Delete the user
2. Do not allow anyone else to register (Settings – uncheck Anyone can register)
3. Remove the article
4. Install a security plugin (like Wordfence) and perform a scanForum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Worst set up ever@yourkidding, well at least you don’t feel entitled. ??
Speaking for myself, I am forever grateful for wordpress (essentially a free product), to all the volunteers (who work for free), the plug-in and theme developers (where I can access many free versions of their solutions), and everyone else who contributes to the vast supportive wordpress community.

In reply to: Should I publish pages as I write them?Lots of variables on this. In general, I think publishing as you go is fine, especially for new sites.
That said, if you’re creating a large site and still working on the taxonomy/structure of it, then you could wait until that framework is sound.

In reply to: Change my profile picturePerhaps it was before my time (2008-09) but I don’t recall ever changing a profile pic directly here.
If you load a pic on gravatar, any site that uses that will automatically use that pic — no need for you to set it again for any specific site. It will actually save you a lot of time in the long run if you’re a user on multiple sites that leverage gravatar.
Regardless, if it suits you well, random shrubbery and dirt road works too. ??

In reply to: Is a sliding panel possible with WordPress? Most sliders can be done via theme or plugin with relative ease. However, when looking at the sample site, I don’t know of either that easily enables a slider to present full-page content.
That said, before you perform extensive due diligence on making this work, I personally believe there are many usability issues with the concept. Here are just a few of my initial thoughts:
– The illusion of horizontal scroll combined with necessary vertical scroll for smaller screens can be confusing
– It’s not mobile/tablet friendly
– Navigation is not intuitiveThere are actually many non-scroll related usability issues as well but I’ll keep those to myself since it’s off-topic. ??

In reply to: Change my profile picture@sagdude2002 – Do you mean the one here (looks like trees and a dirt road)? If so, you can change that at gravatar.

In reply to: Is this hurting SEO of my website ?I agree with Elsa. Anything you do is intended to boost search results and does not add value to the user will very likely end up penalizing your site in the long run.

In reply to: How to Reset a Feature Back to How it was After an UpgradeThere’s no step-by-step guideline. Someone would have to take a look at how your site was designed and do some troubleshooting.
If you don’t have anyone to do that, you can either post your question in the how-to forum or try to hire someone at the WP job forum.

In reply to: How to Reset a Feature Back to How it was After an UpgradeRolling back to an old version of WordPress is generally a bad idea. There are many beneficial elements, including those behind the scenes, that your users won’t see, like security fixes.
One thing you could try is updating your plugins. Depending on how your site was designed, that may do the trick. If that doesn’t work, perhaps a minor tweak in the code will correct the issue. If you’re not that technical, a quick post in the how-to section may provide you with the answer you need.

In reply to: Custom navigation menuWhat you’re suggesting can definitely be done. There are some variables to consider, like what theme you’re using, where you’re trying to place this drop down if it’s not part of the main nav, and (as Andrew stated), how tech savvy you are.
