In reply to: removing backlinksHow do you know there are 1800 backlinks? Also, what pages are they going to? Just your home page?

In reply to: Can i post more tags for each post?I think you have tags confused with keyword stuffing. Ditto on the 4-5 tags being perfectly fine.

In reply to: Opinions on my site – Smash ComicsAs a huge comic fan, I love what you’ve done from a visual aspect. The vivid colors work great for your niche!
Just a few thoughts:
1. It wasn’t obvious to me what the site was about right away. I thought I’d be able to read comics. Maybe it’s just me.
2. I see you provide your email address but having a contact form is a nice option. Pretty simple plugin if you want to give it a try.
3. Your top level permalinks use pageid. From a usability and SEO perspective, you might want to name them something like smashcomics.au/marvel.
4. When one clicks on an image, a slightly larger version is displayed. If you could make it even bigger, it would be great.
5. I see you have search on your subpages but it isn’t on the home page.
5. Oh, when I use ‘live search’ and press enter, it brings me back to the home page.

In reply to: Help, lost password of username in www.remarpro.comWow, I wish it was that easy for me. Could someone check gabeyoung? I actually gave up trying to get that to work and started using this one a few months ago.

In reply to: AvatarsActually, Gravatar is the KISS method. Since there’s no magical, universal avatar solution, this is the next best thing.

In reply to: Guest Blogger??Early on, it’s easier for you to be a guest blogger than the other way around. Many people are looking for free content and in exchange, they will provide you with a few backlinks to your site. There may even be PageRank on that page eventually and that will provide you with “PR juice” to your site to increase your SERP.
Personally, when I was looking to be a guest years ago, I would seek out other sites in the same niche that had slightly higher PR than I had. I was never turned down — ever.
One day when you gain traction folks will find you. Depending on your niche, I’d be more than happy to have another guest article on one of my sites.

In reply to: [NSFW] Building Backlinks1. Look for forums with high Google PageRank. Ideally, stick with those PR2 or higher.
2. Check to see if the forum is DoFollow.
3. Use keywords as your anchor text, not the link itself. Try to use the words within context of your post.
When you asked how WP makes money, it seemed rhetorical. WP is open source and most of the folks on this forum do not work for WP. Each individual here has his/her own way to make money. WP as an organization makes money a variety of ways such as support, ads and other ancillary products.
Again, WP is simply a tool that is provided for free. Your beef is with the vendors. Folks on here are simply sharing information, this isn’t a paid customer support center.
Even if you’re not the majority, being disappointed with WP is fine. It may, in fact, not be a perfect fit for your organization.
However, the need to bash the tool without fully understanding all its features is probably a bit unnecessary. Your frustrations should be directed toward the vendor and/or owner of your company.
If you simply direct your communications to them, you may find that their alleged failure to plan or implement something for your needs may be justified.
Just saying, blanket statements like “WP will destroy every website in the world” resonates immaturity and your message would fall on deaf ears here.
Just curious, what’s confusing about it? I mean, specifically, what are your problems?
Relatively speaking, it’s very hard to make WP confusing at all.

In reply to: Help me delete a post? You have to contact the owner of that site. This forum has nothing to do with them. WP simply provides the tool that he is using.

In reply to: Beautiful pictures, free service, no signups – why?Is that 400 visitors per day? If so, that’s a decent number for a contact page.
Anyway, you have to figure out where the problem is.
(1) If people aren’t coming to the site, then you need SEO and other marketing.
(2) If QUALIFIED people aren’t coming to the site, then you need to find a way to improve your marketing focus. One way to tell is by looking at your bounce rate.
(3) If qualified people are coming to the site but you’re unable to convert them, then you’ll need to provide an incentive. Perhaps they get a coupon for your services or a free report.
