In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Do Not Use!@kittyface For your future activities in the www.remarpro.com forums, please post a support request when you find something not working as expected. (I wasn’t able to find one regarding BackWPup in your profile). Open source is all about collaboration. I understand you’re frustrated, but blowing out a devastating review won’t make you any happier, nor would it help fixing a potential error. Next time please consider opening a support thread, call us a bunch of a**holes there if it makes you feel better, but then work with us in order to help making the plugin better for everyone.
@eugenmihailescu Thanks for your confirmation.
Thanks, Marcelo.
We’re still working on reproducing that particular behavior. The fact we haven’t been able to reproduce it yet might say less about the quality of another product than it does about the quality of the error.
Any supportive feedback on solving the issue is greatly appreciated. BackWPup has an open GitHub repository for those of you who’d like to contribute and know how to interact on GitHub.Sorry, we currently haven’t any resources available to analyze cases like this one within the context of free support. You could try disabling other plugins, enable a default theme and see if the behavior persists.
We’ve identified and fixed the issue, bugfix release 3.1.2 on the way.
As odd as it may sound, the repetitive appearance of that nag was sort of an accident we had immediately fixed on the fly. You can reinstall 3.1.1 and it’ll be gone. Additionally, 3.1.2 is on the way, yet might take another couple of days as we’re fixing another minor issue.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] error export to XML fileForum: Plugins
In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] ad for Pro versionUPDATE: The ad on the plugin page has been removed (inc/class-admin.php). Feel free to download the file and override it in your installation, or wait for 3.1.2.
As a side-note: Silly me had been under the impression we were talking about a redirection to the plugin’s About page. I know now we weren’t. There is some internal discussion going on about the implementation of that nag now, and personally I am very confident we won’t see anything like that again.
For us as a company there is a sort of “natural” desire to upsell, while as plugin authors we should trust our users to be mature enough to judge for themselves whether they’d like to make use of the features and services coming with a Pro version.Apologies to everyone who felt annoyed, and happy holidays.
Should have been
<!-- <meta name="generator" content="anything" /> -->
.It might have to do with a plugin or theme using the filter the_generator to implement a custom “generator” meta tag. Authors are supposed to filter the output of that filter by type like get_the_generator does in order to avoid XML invalidities. If your XML file contains a line like
<meta name="generator" content="anything" />
, it won’t validate and BackWPup won’t process. It should be out-commented like i.e.<-- <meta name="generator" content="anything" /> -->
.Thanks for the feedback!
Have you tried re-installing the plugin?

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] ad for Pro version@marcelo Did you log in as a different user? That would be the only way I could think of why you would be redirected to the About page again.
