Do you know of any such plugin? I have been looking but can’t find one…

I have sort of the same issue – I have thousands of images in a custom db. I can easily map the fields from the source dB into the wordpress posts table – and have done a couple of sample inserts – my problem arises in that when I do the import this way wordpress does not generate the alternate medium and thumbnail images that it does when the import is done via the upload interface.

I found a plugin to uplad from server, but this does not add any of the caption and description info that I already have associated with each image in the source dB.

Has anyone com across this and come up with a solution? If so I would greatly appreciate any input.

I fixed it – it was a local browser setting and had nothing to do with WP = thanks for replying.

I figured this out – user error – didn’t populate the “type” row with “post”…

I did run into another issue though – after performing the import all of my posts show u in the dB and admin, but whenever I browse to them via the site the only portion of the post that shows up is the excerpt. It is not until I go back in the admin and “update” the ost that it shows up in full; Seems simple enough, but ding it manually fr roughly 2,000 posts will take me a month…

Anyone run into this?

Thanks Hedley your explanation makes a lot of sense. I have a question about importing posts perhaps you can help with – I have roughly 2,000 I need to add into my dB – the structure of the table they are in right now is identical to the default wp_posts table – however, whenever I do the sql import (which works) none show up in my admin interface – any idea why?

I’m running into the same issue – I have an old content table which I have adjusted to match the structure of the posts table – what I’m not sure is how to map the old content categories into the wordpress table. ANy ideas?

I’ve installed it but whenever the plug-in is active my page takes forever to load…
