well, I’m really sorry that I did not get this sooner and misunderstood the structure and handling of the templates in WP.
Ok, so I NOW found the explanation and I understand NOW that the Blog page has to be completely empty:

In the wordpress support pages I found this helpful hint (“creating-a-static-front-page”):
“Posts Page: (if not already created) create an empty page. Give it a title that will be used on top of your posts list. This step is mandatory as you are modifying WordPress default setting. Any other content other than Title will no be diplayed at all on this specific page.”

So, this solves the issue with displaying the blog menu item.
BUT now the blog page won’t display my Open Street Map Out of the Block anymore. (like I wrote in an early thread some time ago):

I just did not think of using the block item “Avatar” instead of “Post Author”.

For now I installed Getwid despite the fact of not yet being compatible with WP 6.
As I’m not totally happy with it plus in-compatibility, I will take the free trial of gutenslider and play around with this… ??

thanks, but this is not happening with all my query blocks/pattern I tried and tested.
There’s no pagination displaying. Despite having enough posts to display on more than one page…

At least I now succeeded in having my Blog Posts page correctly displayed. Thanks to the video by Ferdy Korpershoek (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ThMIssK3IY at about 50:00m) explaining how to manage this with a work-around. I would never have thought of it myself!
But the fact not being able to edit the template “Index” itself was pretty much confusing me since working on this blog…
It has pagination but only because the template has one by default.

Thanks for explaining how to use the templates and how to use the patterns.
Well, I think I totally misunderstood this “template”-stuff! – I concentrated on this too much.
First step, I will kind of “reset” everything, delete all my pages and clear all templates and start again from the beginning (as you are also describing in your documentation).

Hi Ana,

ta-ta-tam ;-).
I fiddled around and put the map in my “Home” Page as well, and voilà, it works now!
It has to be double-placed, what is really odd:
I have to put the Map into the “Home” Page (just to be there) as well as into the Template “Front Page”, in that one all the editing and settings of the map is done.

To me it seems to be only a work-around, I will also report to the plugin developer which, unfortunately, has not made a peep so far… So, I don’t know yet if it’s a bug with blocks and templates.

Update:
I found out that the map is showing only in pages which when I select “Default Template” or “Blank” Template. All the other ones (“About Page”, “Team Page” and so on don’t show the Map.
Hope this helps for further investigation…?

Hi Ana,

thanks for your message and the videos.
I now once again tested with creating new posts and now the team block has gone and the new posts are based on my template (without team block). Perhaps the team block has crept in when I cloned some posts before…
Anyway, I guess the puzzle is solved for now, thanks!
