@dragosvrejiu, thanks for your response. Here is my situation:
1) My web contents are mostly in Chinese and I need to translate them into English.
2) My theme and other plugins are in English. I need to translate the front end strings (field labels and message text) into Chinese.
3) Essentially, my site would be a bilingual site, English and Hong Kong Chinese. My first question is which language I should set as default under my stated scenario? i.e. translating Chinese to English and at the same time translating English into Chinese.
< Deleting or updating the plugin won’t erase them. >
Good to know. What about WordPress update? Will there ba any impact?
Also is the translation global? If a string “Hello” at one instant in my theme is translated, would the translation apply to another instant in the theme?
Would the translation apply to the same string “Hello” from another plugin?< If you need to upload .mo files for translating information that’s not presented in the front-end of the website >
This should be fine in my case. I just need to translate/display the front end text in either English or Chinese. Its good to know TRP will be providing a new translation feature. What is the ETA?< Select Yes if you want to add the language slug in the url for the default language >
Yes this feature is good and I can see the impact of setting the proper default language. But I don’t see the relationship between this and “subdirectory” I enquired.WordPress just released 5.4. Will TRP work with the new version?
Thanks.

In reply to: [Simple Membership] Chinese language not displayedThere is no further details on the document link you provided. I am new with using translation in WordPress platform. So I need more instructions. After finishing translation and save the PO and MO files. Where do I put these files, just in the same place of the POT file (Languages folder), or somewhere else? There are many PO and MO files of different languages in the plugin Language folder. How does WordPress or SWPM know which language file to use, since SWPM does not have a language selector?
Hope this explains my issue more.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Simple Membership] Chinese language not displayedFoundamently I want to be able to translate SWPM text strings, like field labels, to Chinese.

In reply to: [Simple Membership] Chinese language not displayedThanks. I did read the article you mentioned. I have downloaded and use Poedit to access the Hans.po file, make some translation and compile into .mo file. My question is how Simple Membership know where to look for which language file to load. I kind of expect to see a language selection dropdown box in the Setting tab. Since it is not there, the next step is to insert some codes in SM code base. Can you provide the what, where and how on this?

In reply to: [Simple Membership] Chinese language not displayedWell that got around the renaming the name of the page. Using the shortcode say, [swpm_login_form], does display the login form on the new page. But the labels on the form are still English, like “username” “password”, etc. I need these labels to be in Chinese.

In reply to: [Simple Membership] Chinese language not displayedI mean the login form, registration form and profile of the membership plugin. All the contents are in Chinese, but my WP language setting is English.
This plugin automatically created five pages during activation. Can I change the name of these pages to Chinese without affect the functions.
Can you tell me how to use the mo files for the plugin?@angelo_nwl, I have now switched to WP FullCalendar plugin and not using EM Fullcalendar.
I am not sure I should open a new thread. I use the full EM calendar using shortcode. The issue is when my event name is long the wording does not wrap in the cell in the calendar. That is the column width is not fixed, but increases with the wording of the event name. How can I fix this?
My test site is on local laptop. The only way to see screens is from screenprints which you can access to my OneDrive.

It would be nice to be able to format the EM content with Elementor.
Hi @timrv,
Wow this is the fastest response I get, thank you.
I am not looking for changing the EM default login form. I am looking for the function that triggers the display of this form. Instead of using the EM default login form, I want the EM call function to use and display my custom login page.Thanks.
That’s great. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks @angelo_nw, it is helpful.
Does EM use WP-User database table when registering users? Or EM has its own user table, independent of WP-User table? I have in mind a membership plugin that uses WP-User table. If EM uses WP-User table it would be great for our use case.@angelo_nwl,
No, we are a private club and only pre-registered users can book events. So the setting is set to No. I did find out I have to remove the check mark on “subscriber”. So my setting of the event is “Available For Logged in Users” and leave the wp-user role boxes unchecked. Then booking is available. My follow-up question is, when a user registers with EM is his/her information entered in WP database as a WP user? I thought it was the case and hence I checked the “Subscriber” box when I create an event ticket. Checking that box caused the problem. How does EM handle EM-registered users and what is it relationship with WP users? It is important for our use case because we will also need to install a membership plugin. I am looking for one that is compatible with EM in terms using a common user database.
Along the same line, can you recommend a membership plugin that works well with EM?

In reply to: [Events Manager - OpenStreetMaps] Map scrolled over the sticky menuI tried adding the z-index codes into my child theme using different classes and IDs that I thought I can hit one right. But no success. I guess I’ll leave it for now. Thanks for the pointers.
