Thank you for your help. Deactivating the plugins was enough to do the trick. The problem turned out to be one relating to fonts, and since I hadn’t even used that plugin’s features yet, it was no problem at all.

Before I do that, do you know if my customizations to the child theme will be retained if I switch to Twenty Fourteen, solve the problem, and then switch back? I have adjusted some colors and am wondering if they will still be there after I switch back.
