    Thanks all for your responses, will take a look at themes with widgets. The theme I use (connections) does not use widgets. Too bad it’s a theme-dependent thing.

    I found a couple of plug-ins for stats and tags, there seems to be a plug-in for everything, which is a good thing, but at the same time it’s also a bad thing, would have been easier to have these in the base functionalities.

    samboll, I agree it’s easy enough to insert the adsense code. But tomorrow, if I want to change adsense from the tower on the right to in-line in the middle, I have to move the code, as opposed to click on an option, and leave the codes alone. It just does not seem very elegant to me.

    I like a few other aspects of wordpress, however, and will spend a little more time on it.
